btc-guild-bitcoin-mining-pool

BTCGuild is one of the top 3 Bitcoin mining pools and they just announced that they’ve launched a scrypt mining pool for alternative crypto currencies. Though the new site called ScryptGuild is still in Alpha stage and being tested, you could request to be one of the people to try it out first if you are interested. BTC Guild has proven as a reliable pool for Bitcoin and offers an easy and user friendly interface, so translating this to a Scrypt mining pool will be a good thing for everyone mining Litecoins and other scrypt crypto currencies. Below is the official announcement from BTC Guild:

After the ASIC revolution in 2013, many users have repurposed their graphics cards for mining on Scrypt-based coins. After significant consideration, BTC Guild has launched a new service, ScryptGuild.

ScryptGuild is currently in alpha testing, and welcoming new users to help test out the continuous features being added. While it is called “Alpha”, the mining side of things is solid, built upon the same backend as BTC Guild, a custom C++ server.

You can find out how to join ScryptGuild by going into our IRC channel, #scryptguild on Freenode IRC network.

mtgox-btc-low-exchnage-rate

This is something interesting, usually MtGox has significantly higher exchange rate for BTC/USD than on other Bitcoin exchanges, but now the exchange on MtGox is actually lower than on other exchanges. The reason for that might be related to a problem that the exchange currently has with BTC withdraws, so maybe now more people are exchanging and withdrawing in cash. Below you can find the official statement regarding the problem from MtGox, the good news it that everything should be back to normal in Monday… hopefully.

Dear MtGox Customers,

In our efforts to resolve the issue being encountered by various bitcoin withdrawals, it was determined that the increase in the flow of withdrawal requests has hindered our efforts on a technical level. To understand the issue thoroughly, the system needs to be in a static state.

In order for our team to resolve the withdrawal issue it is necessary for a temporarily pause on all withdrawal requests to obtain a clear technical view of the current processes.

We apologize for the sudden short notice. All bitcoin withdrawal requests will be on pause, and the withdrawals in the system will be returned to your MtGox wallet and can be reinitiated once the issue is resolved. The trading platform will perform as usual for the needs of our customers.

Our team will resolve this problem as soon as possible and will provide an update on Monday, February 10, 2014 (JST).

We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for your kind support and considerations.

Sincerely,

The MtGox Team

maxcoin-alternative-crypto

It seems that since the launch of the MaxCoin some of the largest pools that added support for mining MAX cryptos are under constant DDoS attacks and that is preventing the normal mining of the currency by normal users. Not only that this is hurting the trust in the new crypto, but it is generally driving away users from pools, especially if the pools are not prepared for such attacks. As a result of the constant DDoS attacks ypool has announced that they are stopping the MaxCoin mining pool and they were probably the largest MAX crypto pool. Another big pool that reports issues from the DDoS attacks is the 1GH pool, but they are still holding up and have not yet announced that they will give up on MAX.
