Mining Conceal (CCX) with CryptoNightConceal on Nvidia GPUs

The Conceal (CCX) project is another attempt at a privacy oriented crypto coin that offers some interesting features one of which is the so called Decentralized Banking with coins getting locked to earn interest. Conceal is based on the Cryptonote protocol and uses the so called CryptoNightConceal algorithm, a variation that is based on CryptoNight and thus is considered to be an “AMD Coin” due to the fact that AMD GPUs usually do perform better in CN algos. With low mining profits and with more people looking into mining other interesting projects however even Nvidia GPU miners are looking into potentially interesting CN-based coins. Some exchanges to trade CCX coins include Citex, Stex, qTrade and Graviex.

With the latest CryptoDredge v0.21.0 Nvidia GPU miner support for the CryptoNightConceal algorithm has been added and the performance does not seem that bad. The performance you can expect from a GTX 1080 Ti is around the same an RX 580 8GB can do (around 1700 h/s) per GPU. With the help of the OhGodAnETHlargementPill you can get an extra ~200 h/s per GPU and the best of all is that the power usage is pretty low compared to most Nvidia GPU algorithms (around 850W per 6x GTX 1080 Ti GPU mining rig at the wall). So you might want to give this a go, though currently the profitability even in this case is not that attractive, but hey… you are risking with something with potential here, that is the whole idea, right?

Ravencoin (RVN) Will Be Moving From X16R to X16RV2 Algorithm on Tuesday Oct 01 2019 16:00:00 UTC

The Ravencoin Dev team has now confirmed the upcoming algorithm changes to the new X16Rv2 algorithm planned to happen on Tuesday October 1st 2019 at 16:00:00 UTC. The new X16Rv2 will have the algorithm Tiger into three separate parts of the current X16R algo with the Tiger hash performed before the algorithms Luffa512, Keccak512, and SHA512. A new build should be made available this week or at the beginning of the next (version 2.5.0) that will have the algorithm switch in it. The new build will also be fixing some bugs, and adding some improvements into the Ravencoin Core Client. It is recommended that all users/nodes update to 2.5.0 as soon as it becomes available even though there is more than a month before the algorithm switch. Meanwhile GPU miners interested in continuing to mine RVN with the new X16Rv2 algorithm should monitor heir favorite mining software as support for the new algo is being announced in upcoming updates…

Get Ready for the BEAM Hard Fork Scheduled for August 15th (Block #321321)

The BEAM Project is having a hard fork in about two days and you need to make sure that you are ready for it if you are mining it or are using a local wallet for BEAM. The BEAM Hard Fork is scheduled for block #321321 which should be reached sometime in August 15th and you need to mak sure your wallet is up to date as well as your miner. Make sure you get the latest BEAM wallet if you use a local wallet, if you rely on exchanges make sure they have updated their wallets after the fork before doing any transactions. Some good exchanges to trade BEAM coins include Binance and Gateio.

The BEAM Hard Fork will also come with changes in the algorithm used for mining, the PoW algorithm will change from Beam Hash I (Equihash 150,5) to Beam Hash II (EquihashR variation). And while the new algorithm is still a modification of the Equihash you would still have to use a new miner or an updated one with support for the new algorithm (EquihashR parameters n = 150, k = 5 and r = 3). The initial information suggests that the new BeamHash II algorithms should be faster in terms of hashrate and with lower power consumption on the same hardware compared to the still currently used BeamHash I (Equihash 150,5) algorithm.

The software miner with support for BEAM mining have already started updating with support for the new algorithm, though not all of them already have Beam Hash II available. Our preferred Nvidia BEAM miner – GMiner 1.55 already has support for both AMD and Nvidia miners for the upcoming hardfork and the new BeamHash II algo… there is even an auto-switch function built-in, so that it will switch to the new algorithm after the fork is detected. The latest lolMiner 0.8.6 for AMD GPUs has added support for the BEAM hard fork and there is also an auto switch option available to help you seamlessly move to the new Beam Hash II algorithm. Other popular miners with BEAM support should most likely follow soon with updates adding the new algorithm as well…
