CloudHashing to Offer a Price of $1.99 USD per GHS for Bitcoin Cloud Mining

The Bitcoin cloud mining service Cloud Hashing is becoming more aggressive lately as they have just announced their plans to start offering $1.99 USD price per GH for Bitcoin cloud mining. Their recent merger with the hardware manufacturer HighBitCoin and the forming of the company PeerNova has apparently allowed them to do achieve really good mining performance and thus be able to lower the price for their cloud mining services. They claim that PeerNova’s new PetaOne Blade using a custom 28nm ASIC chip has a power efficiency of 0.35W per GH/s and that is half of what the KnCMiner’s new Neptune miners are said to be able to offer in terms of power efficiency.

There is a bit of a catch though, you are not able to yet get the $1.99 USD price per GHS for their cloud mining services. The mining contracts at this new price are set to go live in August and are 1 year in length and will be a limited volume available on a first come first serve basis. To take advantage of this offer you should apparently contact them company at support@cloudhashing.com or by phone at (512)758-7847 to get more details. At the moment the price per GHS you can get with the lowest entry level cloud mining plan in terms of hashrate being offered is about $7.48 USD for the 40 GHS plan and about $5 per GHS for the 600 GHS plan. But the big question is what will be the Bitcoin network difficulty by August, especially now that KnCMiner is about to start shipping their new 3 THS Bitcoin miners. Apparently we’ll have to wait and see.

Raspberry Pi Images Designed for ZeusMiner Scrypt ASIC Devices

By default most ZeusMiner Scrypt ASICs do come prepared for direct connection to a PC over a USB cable and for use with the supplied cgminer version with support for Zeus chips. There is however an option to use these miners, smaller or larger, with a Raspberry Pi controller and make them PC independent. In fact some of the companies selling these Scrypt ASICs do offer an option to buy a separate Raspberry Pi controller for the ZeusMiner-based products or even do bundle one with a custom image that supports them – either basic solution with console only monitoring or with a nice and feature rich web-based interface. We have tried to compile a list of who offers what to help you start up with using Raspberry Pi controller for your ZeusMiner ASIC devices. Apart from Zeus directly and their official distributors, there is also GAWMiners with their own branded miners and HASHRA as well selling products that are also based on ZeusMiner Scrypt ASIC chips.

ZeusMiner offers an official Raspberry Pi image for their miners, however it seems to be a very basic one with console only support as well as a slightly more advanced ZeusController image offering a basic web interface. So a good start up point if you want to try out what is available as options.

MinerEU has just released a Scripta based Raspberry Pi image with some additional extras such as pool priority, pool switch on the fly from web UI as well as cgminer options that can be specified in key/value pair directly from the web browser. Scripta is probably the most feature rich web-based RPi solution, so if you like to have more options and control directly from the web interface you should try this image.

HASHRA has updated their own Hashra Controla RPi image with web-based interface to support the new custom branded Zeus-based products they are currently offering to their customers. This image is a bit simpler in terms of features if you compare it to a Scripta-based image for example, but still works very well and gives you easy access to all the important settings and information.

GAWMiners has partnered with ZenMiner and offers Raspberry Pi with preinstalled ZenController as an option to buy along and also bundled with some of the bigger Zeus-based miners. This is a quite interesting solution as it provides you with an easy to use and very convenient web-based control panel for your miners from anywhere in the world. No need to use a real IP address or be on the same local network as your miner or have to use remote connections etc. It is the type of solution that you just need to plug in and it should start working automatically, so great for people that are not way too technical to deal with possible configuration issues.

Coined: The Story of Cryptocurrency Documentary Project on KickStarter

This is something interesting in terms of a project looking for crowdfunding on KickStarter, a feature-length documentary about the people who create and use crypto currencies. If you are looking for some interesting project to support and are into crypto currencies, then it can be all set. Though we are wondering why there are also no addresses present to help the project by actually donating crypto currencies and not supporting it with money (not on the KickStarter page, but on the official project website for example). The guys behind the project are apparently not only experienced in filmmaking, but are also into crypto mining themselves and they have some footage that they have shot already available, so you can take a look at it. Though so far it is mostly covering DogeCoin (not that it is bad), but they will need to do more than that, a lot more. The expected release of the full featured documentary movie called “Coined: The Story of Cryptocurrency” is expected to happen sometime by the end of next year if the crowdfunding is successful. If you like the idea and what you can see you have 29 more days to support the project and help it reach the goal of $72000 USD or if not, they can at least move to taking crypto currency donations from users that are willing to support their idea.
