GPU mining of Primecoin (XPM) seems to be growing, however the problem with pools for mining XPM still remains and most of the GPU miners available are either for solo mining or for mining XPM only at ypool. This could soon change as the user madMAx510510 over at the Bitcointalk forum has released an open source Primecoin (XPM) GPU miner and a Pool, so hopefully we are soon probably going to get more pools and options to mine the coin with GPU. Primecoin XPM GPU Miner for xpmpool (aka. madPrimeMiner) uses Google protobuf protocol that is only compatible with the Primecoin XPM Pool Server, so pool operators may easily add XPM mining pools using these two as a base if they are interested.

ccminer-0-9-talkcoin-windows

The ccMiner software miner for Nvidia GPUs has received an update of the source code to add support for the NIST5 algorithm and the Talkcoin (TAC) crypto. We have compiled a binary for Windows that you can find below, it is essentially the fully functional 0.9 release with the added support for NIST5 algorithm. Do note that NIST5 is apparently faster on Nvidia GPUs for the moment as we are getting about 11 MHS in terms of hashrate on a GeForce GTX 780 Ti, so significantly better than what the AMD miner for NIST 5 is currently capable of.

Do note that the windows binary you can download below is compiled for Computer 3.0, 3.5 and 5.0 cards (32-bit version only), so it will not work on older cards. It is also compiled with Visual Studio 2012, so if you do not already have Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 you will have to download and install it.

sgminer-4-1-0-talkcoin

Talkcoin (TAC) is an interesting new crypto currency that uses a NIST5 algorithm (BLAKE – Grøstl – JH – Keccak – Skein), so it needs special miner in order to be mined. Here is a version of sgminer 4.1.0 especially for mining the Talkcoin (TAC) on GPU for Windows (source), though it should be able to support other NIST5-based crypto coins. Mining Talkcoin with the miner on Radeon R9 280X GPU we are getting about 4 MHS in terms of hashrate, so the hashrate is higher than for Scrypt for example and the algorithm seems to be lighter for the video card, it is cooler when mining on AMD, but that could be due to not so optimized kernel yet. Below you can download a windows binary of the miner for mining on AMD OpenCL-based graphic cards.
