Testing Protoshares (PTS) Mining with GeForce GTX 750 Ti

The GeForce GTX 750 Ti are performing quite well for Scrypt mining as well as some other algorithms when used with the cudaminer software miner, however there are other crypto algorithms that are not yet supported by the cudaminer, but can bi mined on Nvidia-based GPUs. One such example is Protoshares (Bitshares-PTS) where there are just a few pools and a few GPU miners available and not all pools and GPU miners are compatible with each other. So we decided to try the different pools with their particular GPU miner with support for Nvidia on a GeForce GTX 750 Ti video card to see what works best and where you can get the highest possible performance out of your hardware. It seems that upcpu’s dedicated GPU miner that supports only their own pool is the fastest in terms of performance, however the pool is is Chinese, but since it does not require registration you should be able to easily figure how to work with it. Our favourite English language pool, though with a little less performance is 1ghs’s PTS pool that is also very easy to use. Have in mind that these results are from a GeForce GTX 750 Ti GPU based on the new Maxwell architecture form Nvidia, so on other CUDA-capable video cards the performance you get from each miner may differ. That is why we have packed all of the miners that we have tested in a single archive that you can download and try for yourself to see where your hardware will perform the best. Soon we are also going to be checking out the performance with AMD and OpenCL miners for mining Protoshares.

MintCoin (MINT) Scrypt based cryptocoin

MintCoin is an innovative, secure and energy efficient PoW/PoS coin. It uses a faster PoW distribution mechanism to distribute the initial coins, then after 5 weeks the coin is basically transferred to a pure PoS coin, where the generation of the coin is mainly through the PoS interests. MintCoin also adopt a variable PoS rate, which gives the highest payout at 20% the first year, then decrease 5% per year until the 4th year it reaches annual interest rate of 5%, then it will remain at this rate.

Because after 5 weeks it is basically a pure PoS coin, it does not need to be intensively mined, as the PoW payout will remain the minimum. Most coins will be generated through PoS, thus it is a coin that will save a lot of energy compared to other coins.

MintCoin will have a total of 70 billion coins. Initially each block will deliver 100000 to 900000 coins randomly. The PoW payout will be halved each week (7 days). After 5 weeks, the PoW payout will be fixed at 1 coin per block. PoS will start after at least 20 days of holding of the coins in the wallet. With PoS, the coin is more resilient to 51% attack.

It seems that Newsweek has been able to find the real Satoshi Nakamoto who has created the Bitcoin crypto currency, and they have tried to dig up as much as possible information about the person that has started the crypto currency revolution. So if you are interested about the maker of the digital currency, who and what he does, then you might want to check out the details, though they are actually still not that many. The story is interesting enough though, so definitely worth the read if you are into crypto currencies.
