The Rigel Nvidia GPU is a newcomer on the mining software front and apparently is less than two months old since its initial release, supports just a few crypto algorithms, but looks nice with it the terminal user interface it provides. We haven’t used it up until now, but it has attracted our attention with the addition of support for the nexapow algorithm used by the NEXA project that is lately ginning quite a lot of attention among miners and crypto traders. The Nexapow mining supports comes with a 2% developer fee, but it is apparently well worth it as the miner manages to bring up the hashrate on average about 10% in our quick tests compared to the performance that the previous best performer BzMiner manages to get you at the moment. Both BzMiner and the Rigel miner do only support Nvidia GPUs for mining NEXA, if you want to mine it on AMD GPUs you need to stick the third option which is WildRig Multi that supports AMD and Nvidia GPUs for mining NEXA.

At the moment the Rigel GPU miner is available for both Windows and Linux operating systems, supports only Nvidia video cards and supports mining of etchash (ETC), ethash (ETHW), kheavyhash (Kaspa), nexapow (Nexa) and zil (Zilliqa). The miner does support dual and triple mining with a GPU and memory intensive coins from the supported algorithms and/or ZIL, but it seems that currently nexapow + zil dual mining is not working properly, so you might want to hold it and mine only NEXA until an update is released (ZIL mining is apparently broken in the 1.3.0 release, use older version if not mining NEXA). The miner also has support for command line overclocking and optimizing the performance of the GPU, and these also do seem to work quite well. If the Rigel miner is new to you just like for us, then you might want to play around with it not only for NEXA mining. Kaspa (KAS) miners might also want to take a look at the miner, especially Windows users as they can get slightly better performance with a very slightly lower developer fee compared to lolMiner and still get the same command line overclocking options to maximize performance and lower the power usage.

Now that WildRig Multi is not the only GPU mining software to support NEXA mining with the recent addition of nexapow mining in the latest BzMiner (Nvidia only for now), we got a new WildRig Multi 0.36.4 beta release with improved nexapow hashrate of up to 8% for NVIDIA GPUs, slightly improved nexapow for AMD GPUs and a much lower 2% devfee for nexapow mining. Do note that BzMiner currently only supports NEXA mining with Nvidia GPUs, while WildRig Multi also works on AMD GPUs, so AMD users don’t yet have a choice of mining software to use.

With this update WildRig Multi has almost managed to catch up performance wise to what BzMiner currently offers in terms of hashrate, though even with just 2% miner fee compared to the 3% for the slightly faster BzMiner, WildRig Multi is still a bit slightly slower. Nevertheless, competition is good as miners get better performance and lower fees, making NEXA mining more attractive, especially if it keeps up the high mining profitability. So, if you are mining NEXA on AMD GPUs, do make sure to update to the latest WildRig Multi, while Nvidia users might want to compare their performance with WildRig Multi and BzMiner for mining NEXA and with BzMiner you can also try dual-mining NEXA and ZIL for additional extra profit, something that is not yet available on WildRig Multi.

Another new and interesting development regarding NEXA mining is the addition of NEXA in one of our favourite mining pools, namely WoolyPooly. Besides support for mining NEXA on WoolyPooly, the pool has announced their near future plans to reduce block confirmations, so you can enjoy faster payouts than the normal 5 days or more waiting time for the mined coins to be released to you at the moment (5000 blocks confirmation).

The latest update to version v13.0.1 of the BzMiner GPU miner brings support for mining NEXA, a project we talked about back in December last year. BzMiner is the second miner to bring support for this new project with the other one being WildRig Multi, however it seems that BzMiner’s implementation is a bit faster and with just 3% miner fee compared to the 5% that are charged by the WildRig Multi miner, so switching to BzMiner v13.0.1 if you are mining NEXA is a must at the moment. NEXA has been quite profitable for miners for a while now and it was just recently added to a second exchange for trading – TxBit.

NEXA is getting added on other mining pools besides the initial availability on Rpool and miners are supporting them, so you might want to try and spread the hashpower by mining on a different mining pool now. The only thing that you should be well aware of as a miner of NEXA is that it takes 5+ days for newly mined coins to be released from the pool to be sent to your wallet. Also have in mind that for now BzMiner only supports mining on Nvidia GPUs! Another useful feature of the BzMiner software is the dual-mining support for mining any coin together with Zilliqa (ZIL), so you can essentially dual-mine NEXA and ZIL and get a nice boost in profitability without pretty much any loss of mining performance.
