The NiceHash service for leasing and renting crypto hashrate has announced the addition of a new crypto algorithm to their list of supported algos – the Zhash algorithm or Equihash with parameter set 144,5. This algorithm is currently used as a PoW algorithm with Bitcoin Gold (BTG), Anon (ANON) and BitcoinZ (BTCZ) and other projects. The Zhash algorithm works by increasing the hardware requirements of Equihash to make the development of an ASIC appliance less viable and to put back GPU mining in control for the projects using this algorithm. Aside from support for Zhash on the marketplace for hashrate, mining Zhash is also supported through the latest NiceHash Miner Legacy (1.9.0.8) as well as third party miners of course.

Another popular service for renting and leasing mining rigs Mining Rig Rentals has been offering Zhash (Equihash 144,5) for quite some time, though the market there is usually smaller compared to what NiceHash is capable of providing in terms of hashrate. Apart from Zhash this service also offers support for Equihash 96,5 as well as Equihash 192,7 and Equihash 210,9 so if you need any of these you can check the MRR service as well.

The latest Bminer 10.5.0 release has introduced another significant performance boost for Bytom (BTM) mining support using the Tensority algorithm, you can get up to 4500 H/s on GTX 1080 Ti or even more which is faster than the latest performance boost offered by the NebuTech BTMiner 10.0. Have in mind though that still not all of the BTM mining pools are supported by Bminer (like Antpool for example), so make sure you are on a compatible pool in order to get the optimal performance. We remind you that that Bminer is a closed source Nvidia GPU miner available for Linux and Windows in the form of pre-compiled binaries and that there is a 2% development fee for Bytom (BTM), Equihash and Zhash coins, 0.65% for Ethash and 1.3% for dual mining Ethash and Blake.

Funakoshi’s Equihash 144,5 CUDA miner is arguably the fastest Equihash 144,5 Nvidia GPU miner available at the moment for both Linux and Windows users with the software constantly being developed and improved as you can see from the short timespan between the new version updates. The latest version 4.10 once again bumps up the hashrate you get mining Equihash 144,5 crypto coins such as Bitcoin Gold (BTG) that uses that particular variation of Equihash. This miner does not seem to be getting that much attention like other Equihash GPU miners, but that doesn’t mean that it does not outperform them, it is just that the software is focused on a single algorithm only while other alternatives usually support multiple algorithms. Funakoshi’s miner is a closed source one and comes as pre-compiled binaries for Windows and Linux with a built-in developer fee of 1.5%.
