The miniZ Nvidia CUDA clodes source miner for Windows and Linux has been available for a while already, but what caught our attention recently is the addition of support for the Equihash 150,5 algorithm used by BEAM. The miner also supports Equihash 144,5 as well as 192,7 and 96,5 and the various crypto currencies that use these algorithms on compatible 2GB Nvidia GPUs and it there are CUDA 8.0 and CUDA 10.0 versions available including support for Nvidia RTX GPUS with the CUDA 10 release. Since it is a closed source miner there is also a developer fee of 2% percent included.

Back to BEAM support and the Equihash 150,5 algorithm, the miniZ miner took the lead in terms of performance with its recent release over other popular miners that already had support for the algorithm. You might want to check it out if you are mining BEAM or another crypto currency that uses the same algorithm, even NiceHash support is properly working and present, so that will work too. At the moment miniZ does seem to be a good alternative for Equihash 150,5 or BEAM mining to the popular GMiner software that is one of the most used solution for that particular algorithm on Nvidia GPUs.

The latest update of the AMD GPU miner lolMiner 0.8 brings support for the Cuckatoo 31 algorithm used by Grin, for GPUs with either 4GB and 8GB video memory (lower memory mens less performance) for Windows and Linux. To mine with the new algorithm you need to use the parameter --coin GRIN-AT31, NiceHash does not currently seem to be supported for C31 though. It is interesting to note that the Grin cycle finding is completely done on the GPU, so the miner has almost zero CPU load (on AMD, Nvidia has some due to OpenCL back end). Aside from Cuckatoo 31 support the new version also has some Stratum bug fixes (NiceHash) for Equihash 144/5, 192/7 and 96/5, improved general stability of the miner as well as added distinct 1GB, 3GB and 4GB as well as 6GB and 8GB kernel for mining MNX for Windows (the Linux version that already implemented had this in 0.7.1).

We remind you that lolMiner is a closed source OpenCL GPU miner available for Windows and Linux as pre-compiled binaries only and that there is a developer fee for using the software (1% for all supported algorithms). It might work on Nvidia with OpenCL, however stability and performance might not be optimal, so it is best for use with AMD GPUs.

The latest two versions of GMiner 1.37 and 1.38 have increased the supported range of GPUs over what the miner was capable of running on regarding Grin, Swap and Aeternity mining as well as some additional algorithms now also supported on AMD GPUs. GMiner 1.37 added Equihash 144,5 and 192,7 solver support for AMD miners on top of the already existing Cuckaroo29, Cuckoo29, Cuckaroo29s and Equihash 150,5 as well as some minor performance improvements for beam on AMD cards. A 5GB solver for Grin29 / Swap / Aeternity was added as well that allows the mining on 6GB cards under Windows 10 and in the latest release that was further improved by adding 4GB solver for Grin29 and Swap that should work under Linux and Windows 7 on 4GB VRAM GPUs.

The GMiner miner requires an Nvidia GPU with CUDA compute capability 5.0 or later as well as CUDA 9.0 driver support, some algorithms are already supported on AMD GPUs as well (Cuckaroo29, Cuckoo29, Cuckaroo29s, Beam’s Equihash 150,5 as well as the recently added Equihash 144,5 and 192,7). Do note that GMiner is a closed source miner for Nvidia and AMD GPUs with binaries available for both Windows and Linux, also there is a 2% developer fee built-in the software.
