The Handshake (HNS) project is gaining more attention as it is getting wider support from services that are allowing users to sell or buy hashpower such as NiceHash and MiningRigRentals (MRR). Handshake is a decentralized, permissionless naming protocol where every peer is validating and in charge of managing the root DNS naming zone with the goal of creating an alternative to existing Certificate Authorities and naming systems. So NiceHash has just added support for buying and selling hashrate for the Handshake algorithm on their platform and just recently added support for mining HNS in their dedicated multi-functional software for miners – NiceHash Miner 3.0.0.7.

You can of course also GPU mine Handshake (HNS) using the latest GMiner or NBMiner standalone software miners, though GPU mining may not be that profitable with BlackMiner F1 series FPGAs offering a bit better performance with lower power usage compared to GPUs. Unfortunately at the moment if you have hosted BlackMiner FPGAs you are apparently not able to utilize them with either NH or MRR, so these services are only available to users that have their own miners available and are not using HashAltcoin’s hosting services! Nevertheless you might still make some profit or bet longer term on HNS mining with GPUs or buying or selling Handshake hashrate until June when we are expecting to see the Hummer Miner Mars H1 Handshake (HNS) ASIC miners starting to join the network and significantly outperforming any existing GPU or FPGA mining option at the moment. HNS is already listed for trading on a few crypto exchanges such as Gateio, Citex and HotBit.

A few days ago we have mentioned the Handshake (HNS) project and the fact that mining has recently started with GPUs and FPGAs that offer slightly faster hashrate at a bit lower power usage and that ASIC miners are also going to be coming out soon. Now there are more details about the first announced Handshake ASIC miner available from the Chinese ASIC manufacturer Hummer Miner with their device up for pre-order. The Hummer Miner Mars H1 ASIC should be offering 80 GH/s hashrate with 2000 Watts of power usage (25 Watt/GHs efficiency) and is priced at 12600 CNY or roughly about $1800 USD with shipping expected to start mid-June and not in May as previously expected. This gives some additional time for miners with GPUs and FPGA’s from Hashaltcoin to stock up on HNS coins before ASIC miners hit the market, even though profitability is already getting lower day by day as we are seeing.

Handshake is a decentralized, permissionless naming protocol where every peer is validating and in charge of managing the root DNS naming zone with the goal of creating an alternative to existing Certificate Authorities and naming systems. Handshake is an experiment which seeks to explore those new ways in which the necessary tools to build a more decentralized internet. By running Handshake, one can participate in a decentralized open naming platform secured by a decentralized peer-to-peer network. Handshake uses a coin system for name registration.

The Handshake coin (HNS) is the mechanism by which participants transfer, register, and update internet names. The community will be able to initiate auctions and place bids for top-level domains using HNS or trade their HNS as they see fit, with differing value per name. HNS coins can already be mined with GPUs using mining software such as NBMiner or GMiner, with mining starting just a few weeks ago with the project already gaining significant interest. HashAltcoins have also added support for mining HNS using their FPGA miners, although hashrate and power usage are not significantly better than what a 1080 Ti GPU mining rig could offer. The Chinese ASIC manufacturer Hummer Miner also have announced that they will be releasing a HNS ASIC miner planned to start shipping in May with expected hashrate of 75-80 GH/s.

The good news is there is still to mine some HNS coins with GPUs, the coin is already listed for trading on Gateio, Citex and HotBit. There are a number of mining pools available for HNS with F2Pool being the largest in terms of hashrate at the moment.
