The latest GMiner 2.03 GPU miner adds support for the Qitmeer (PMEER) mining, however do not be in a hurry to try mining using the Cuckoo24 algorithm that has been just added. Have in mind that the Qitmeer (PMEER) mining support comes with a 5% developer fee and is apparently CPU intensive, so you might have trouble using the latest GMiner with Qitmeer (PMEER) mining on mining rigs with most typical dual-core lower performance processors. Frankly we are a bit disappointed that the official release notes do not mention the higher developer fee for the new algorithm, nor that it is apparently heavier in terms of CPU requirements.

The GMiner miner software was originally only an Nvidia GPU miner, although some algorithms are already supported on AMD GPUs as well. Do note that GMiner is a closed source miner for Nvidia and AMD GPUs with binaries available for both Windows and Linux, there is a 2% developer fee built-in the software.

The latest NBMiner 27.7 update comes with improvements for Handshake (HNS) and HNS + ETH Dual mining on Nvidia GPUs, bringing a bit better performance as well as some fixes like for the NVML initialization failure on certain cases and for ETH mining on NiceHash. With the latest performance improvement NBMiner 27.7 is again taking a lead for Handshake mining performance from the latest GMiner. With the latest performance improvements a mining rig with 6x 1080 Ti’s gets closer to what Blackminer’s FPGAs with HNS support, though GPUs are still a bit slower and with a bit higher power usage. Nevertheless mining HNS now may still be worth it with the expected availability of the first Handshake ASIC miner sometime in June.

We remind you that the NBMiner is a closed source GPU miner for Nvidia CUDA and now AMD as well that is available for both Windows and Linux operating systems and it has the following developer fee built-in: tensority_ethash 3%, tensority (Pascal) 2%, tensority (Turing) 3%, ethash 0.65%, cuckaroo & cuckatoo & cuckaroo_swap 2%, progpow_sero 2%, sipc 2%, bfc 3%, hns 2%, hns_ethash 3%.

A few days ago we have mentioned the Handshake (HNS) project and the fact that mining has recently started with GPUs and FPGAs that offer slightly faster hashrate at a bit lower power usage and that ASIC miners are also going to be coming out soon. Now there are more details about the first announced Handshake ASIC miner available from the Chinese ASIC manufacturer Hummer Miner with their device up for pre-order. The Hummer Miner Mars H1 ASIC should be offering 80 GH/s hashrate with 2000 Watts of power usage (25 Watt/GHs efficiency) and is priced at 12600 CNY or roughly about $1800 USD with shipping expected to start mid-June and not in May as previously expected. This gives some additional time for miners with GPUs and FPGA’s from Hashaltcoin to stock up on HNS coins before ASIC miners hit the market, even though profitability is already getting lower day by day as we are seeing.
