Have Some Spare CPU Power, Mine HOdlcoin With It

There are not that many CPU-only mineable coins out there and our current preferred choice for dedicating some spare CPU mining power is for HOdlcoin (HODL). The coin started with solo mining only from the wallet, but has since introduced pools and separate miners, so now it it easier to get started and there is development going on on new features. The interesting part about HODL is that you get interest rate on coins that are inside your wallet and there is also an option for making deposits for even higher returns, but unlike with PoS you do not actually need to keep the wallet running to get your bonus interest. The regular interest accumulates for each block with the coins available to be spent at any moment while the deposits lock your coins for a chosen period of time, but offer significantly higher interest when compared to the regular rate of about 5% APR. New Faster HOdlcoin CPU Miner is Now Available

There is a new HOdlcoin miner fork available that is optimized by Wolf0 (source) that should increase your performance. We have compiled a Windows binary of the new miner for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows and we are seeing performance improvement in both with the 64-bit release showing a bit better results. Do note that with CPU miners like this it is best that you compile for the CPU architecture you are using in order to get the best performance, so you might want to compile from source. If you are mining HODL with the old CPU pool miner for then you might want to check the optimized version by Wolf0 to see if it will help you squeeze some more hashes out of your existing CPU. Don’t forget to support miner developers as well, so if you like the extra performance feel free to send some HODL coins to Wolf0 at: H9k1vcAK9qvSBXWazr36unSMy4Lb6k8Cm6. Do note that the miner is made for AES-NI capable processors, so older processors without support for that instruction set might not be able to use it, if you have trouble running the compiled miners try compiling on your hardware, or stick to the standard hodlminer.

Second Mining Pool for HOdlcoin Now Available

After the announcement of the first HODL mining pool there was a centralization of most of the network hashrate in that pool as many people moved away from solo mining. Now we have a second HOdlcoin mining pool from Suprnova available, so you can move your hashrate there in order to balance out the hashrate distribution among the two pools and with the solo miners things should be safer for the HODL network. Of course having a few more pools won’t hurt either, but even with two mining pools things are significantly better than with just one, so this is definitely a move in the right direction.

In order to mine HODL with the new Suprnova pool you can use the same dedicated hodlminer CPU miner (source) available for download below in the form of a Windows binary. If this is the first time you are hearing about HOdlcoin (HODL) you might want to get to know about the altcoin a bit more as it has an interesting idea and bonuses for early adopters. Also the new Suprnova pool has a fee of just 1% as compared to the fee of 2% for the Blockquarry Hodl Pool, so this can also be a reason enough for some miners to switch and try the new pool. Do note that the Suprnova HODL pool was just launched, so there might be some things that need to be fixed, though it seems that the mining part is working just fine already.
