ccminer-1-8-1-tpruvot

Tpruvot has made an official release of his updated ccMiner fork (source) version 1.8.1 along with Windows x86 and x64 binaries available for download. The x86 Windows binary is compiled with VS2013 and CUDA 8.0 RC and the x64 binary is compiled with CUDA 7.5, it is best to use the latest video drivers to have support for CUDA 8.0.

The new ccMiner 1.8.1 adds support for mining Siacoin (SC) on Nvidia GPUs using CUDA, SIA uses Blake2-B algorithm, though at the moment different pools still seem to rely on different protocols for mining and not all of them are yet supported by ccMiner. The miner supports the SIA Nanopool RPC (getwork over http) as well as the getwork over Stratum implementation of Suprnova, but not yet the Siaminingpool stratum protocol (you should still be able to mine there via getwork). The hashrate seems to be slightly better than that Sia Go Miner that uses OpenCL and also works on Nvidia GPUs.

The new version 1.8.1 also comes with small improvement in the LBRY hashrate improvements (by alexis78) over the previous release 1.8 that introduced Library Credits mining. So if you are mining LBC with Nvidia GPUs, then you might wan to update to the new release in order to get slightly better hashrate. The Lyra2RE support has also been updated with the with the Nanashi Meiyo-Meijin improvements, so it should be faster than before.

cpuminer-opt-3-3-8

Another update in the form of a Windows binary compiled from the latest cpuminer-opt (source) CPU miner with added optimizations for many algorithms using the AES-NI instruction set (also works on older SSE2 capable CPUs). Up until recently the cpuminer-opt was available only for Linux users, but starting from version 3.3 there is also Windows support and we have compiled 64-bit binaries of the miner for Windows for the latest released version 3.3.8. The latest update brings some performance improvements such as blake2s with about 10% higher hashrate, support for new algorithms such as LBRY, Whirlpool and WhirlpoolX as well as fixed Skein2 that was apparently broken in the previous version.

In the archive below you can find multiple executable files that are compiled for different CPU architectures that support AES-NI instructions, so you are welcome to try them to see what works best for you. If your processor does not support AES-NI (CPUS introduced 5 or more years ago), then you might want to use the cpuminer-sse2.exe binary. The default cpuminer.exe is compiled for Intel Westmere, the first Intel architecture that has support for the AES-NI instruction set and cpuminer-amd.exe is bdver1 which should work on all AMD processors with AES-NI support. If you have a more recent Intel Sandybridge, Ivybridge, Haswell or Broadwell-based processor you can try the respective binary to see if that will squeeze some extra performance, or you can compile directly on your PC with the native instruction set supported by your CPU.

ccminer-1-8-tpruvot-lbry

While LBRY is still in Beta and you need to request an invitation in order to be able to get early access to the platform (currently only available for Mac OSX and Linux), people have been mining the LBRY Credits (LBC) for a while now on AMD via the dedicated sgminer fork or on CPU, but today tpruvot has updated his ccMiner fork (source) with the final 1.8 release that adds support for LBRY Credits mining on Nvidia GPUs as well.

We have compiled a Windows binary of the latest ccMiner 1.8 source code from github and you can download and try it for mining LBC from the link below. It is a 32-bit Windows binary compiled with VS2013 using CUDA 7.5 for Compute 2.0 to Compute 5.2 Nvidia GPUs, though it also works on Nvidia Pascal GPUs. We are going to be testing the miner with different CUDA versions to see if there is a better working combination and if we find such we are going to update the binary. If you are in a hurry to get to mining LBRY Credits however you should be all set to start with this release and enjoy the good performance that Nvidia GPUs provide for this algorithm. Below is a quick benchmark with a few Nvidia GPUs using this Windows binary as an idea to what you can expect in terms of hashrate for mining LBRY Credits.

Mining hashrate for LBRY Credits:
– GTX 970 – 127 MHS
– GTX 980 Ti – 156 MHS
– GTX 1070 – 242 MHS
– GTX 1080 – 313 MHS
