Skeincoin (SKC) is another alternative cryptographic currency that uses a different algorithm – the Skein hashing algorithm combined with SHA256 hashing as Proof of Work. Skeincoin hashing is fast and can be implemented for CPU, GPU, FGPA and ASIC. Note that the use of a specialized algorithm means that Skeincoin requires a specialized miner in order to be able to mine SKC.
