ccminer-sp-whirlpoolx

The WhirlpoolX algorithm is now supported in both the latest updates of the ccMiner forks from SP (source) and Tpruvot (source). So we have compiled windows binaries from the latest source for both miners and decided to test the performance we are getting mining the WhirlpoolX altcoin Vanillacoin (VNL). Do note that the sp-mod fork of ccMiner is optimized and supports the newer Computer 5.0 and 5.2 Nvidia Maxwell GPUs where the performance is maxed out while the tpruvot fork supports Compute 3.0 or newer video cards. We have tested the performance we are getting on GeForce GTX 980 GPU with the two miners, the SP version as expected gives out higher performance on a Maxwell card as expected with about 233 MHS while the tpruvot fork is not that much slower with about 222 MHS mining WhirlpoolX. So if you are mining WhirlpoolX on Nvidia-based video cards or leasing your hashrate you might want to update your miner to the appropriate version depending on your GPUs.

ccminer-whirlpoolx-djm34-dev-fee

There is now a Windows binary of a ccMiner fork available for mining Vanillacoin (VNL) that uses WhirlpoolX algorithm on Nvidia GPUs thanks to djm34. There is no source code released for the miner, only Windows binary that supports Compute 3.5 or newer Nvidia video cards. Do note that this version includes a 5% developer fee, so it will mine for the developer of the code to support his work! Also it seems that the miner only works on the two official VNL pools as well as the Suprnova Pool, it refuses to connect to to others. We are getting about 180 MHS on a stock GTX 980 GPU, though the author reports that is should reach up to about 200 MHS, probably with some overclock it will. You should expect about 60 MHS on a GTX 750 Ti GPU according to the author of the miner code. Recently there was a boom of interest in VNL even though it has not yet been added on an exchange, though C-Cex is apparently going to add it very soon, meanwhile MiningRigRentals and NiceHash have all added support for the new WhirlpoolX algorithm, so apparently the user interest continues to grow. If you are looking for a high performance AMD GPU miner, you can find the latest sgminer fork with WhirlpoolX support here, it offers similar performance to what the same class of Nvidia GPUs should provide using the ccMiner.

sgminer-5-1-0-whirlpoolx

The GPU mining of Vanillacoin (VNL) is picking up and more miners are checking out the previously CPU only coin. We now have an updated sgminer fork with optimized OpenCL kernel for the WhirlpoolX algorithm that the coin uses that almost doubles the performance on AMD GPUs compared to the previous miner. With the new sgminer fork we are getting a bit over 130 MHS as compared to about 75 MHS that the previously available version on AMD Radeon R9 280X video card with no overclock. So if you are mining Vanillacoin you might want to update to the new miner to get better performance. The sgminer fork will work on Nvidia GPUs as well, but the performance that it will have in terms of hashrate there makes it pretty much pointless, but hopefully there will soon be a ccMiner fork optimized for Nvidia CUDA mining of the coin.
