T-Rex 0.15.3 Nvidia Miner With KAWPOW Support for RavenCoin (RVN)

The latest T-Rex Nvidia GPU miner version 0.15.3 has introduced support for the new KAWPOW algorithm just as expect in time for the fork of RavenCoin (RVN) that is coming in just a few days – May 6th 2020 at 18:00:00 UTC. Aside from the new Kawpow support for the upcoming RVN fork, the latest T-Rex miner also adds supports for ProgPow and MTP-tcr algorithms.

Aside from T-Rex adding support for KAWPOW in the latest version, there are a few other alternatives available already – the official open-source kawpowminer, the latest TT-Miner, the latest NBMiner and the latest GMiner. The only one that is still missing support for KAWPOW is Z-Enemy, however enemy has already announced that there should be an update before the RVN fork and it will also support the new Ravencoin algorithm.

T-Rex is closed source Nvidia GPU miner available for both Linux and Windows operating systems. The miner comes in multiple versions supporting CUDA 9.1, CUDA 9.2 and CUDA 10.0. The miner has developer fee of 1% for all of the supported algorithms, only tensority has a higher dev fee of 3%.

Team Red Miner 0.6.0 With Support for the Ethash Algorithm

Team Red Miner is a performance optimized cryptocurrency miner for AMD GPUs with support for lyra2rev3, lyra2z, phi2, CryptoNight v8 (CNv2) and CryptoNight R (CNv4), X16 variants, MTP, Cuckarood29 and Cuckatoo31 and now adding Ethash support as well in the latest 0.6 release. The miner is available for both Windows and Linux operating systems, a closed source software with 2.5% to 3% development fee built-in for all algos except Ethash, for Ethash on Polaris GPUs the dev fee is 0.75% and on all other GPUs is 1.0%.

A quick test of the Team Red Miner 0.6.0 for mining ETH (current DAG 299) on AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB GPUs has shown hashrate very similar to what other Ethash miners are capable of delivering on the same hardware, so performance wise things seem to be very good. Of course why to switch from one Ethash miner that you might be already familiar with such as Claymore’s Dual Miner to another that has just introduced support… that is up to you to decide, though you should give it a try.

Veil to Fork and Change Their Mining Reward Distribution

The VEIL project, a privacy-oriented cryptocurrency, has announced their plans for an upcoming fork to change the way PoW mining works in an upcoming fork. The project launched earlier this year has started with X16RT as a PoW algorithm for mining making 50% of the total block reward and the other 50% is for users staking coins in their wallet. The 50% reward for miners will continue, however it will be split in three different parts in the future with 3 different algorithms in play. Veil miners will have the option to chose to mine using ProgPoW (Programmatic Proof-of-Work) for GPUs that will account for 35% of those 50%, RandomX for CPU mining will represent 10% and the remaining 5% for miners will go to SHA-256D ASIC miners. It is interesting change as prior to announcing these plans the project was anti-ASIC, but now it seems that it is planning to attract all kinds of miners – GPU, CPU and ASICs. Also an interesting fact is that they have chosen to go for multiple algorithms including the much talked about ProgPow to be soon used by Ethereum and RandomX to be soon used by Monero. The fork date is not yet announced and it may take a while before these plans get applied to the mainnet of Veil, so for now the project remains on X16RT as far as mining is concerned.
