SGMiner-GM 5.5.5 With Support for ETH, XMR and ZEC Now Available

21 Jan
2017

SGMiner-GM is a revitalization of the sgminer project (source), brought to you by Genesis Mining and being developed and maintained by Philipp Otterbein, OhGodAGirl and Wolf. The latest version sgminer-gm-5.5.5 comes with support for ETH, XMR and Zcash and NiceHash has also just released a fork with support for their services for using the miner for selling your hashrate on their service for Ethereum and Monero. The recently added support for Zcash mining using sgminer-gm relies on the Zawawa’s Gateless Gate implementation, so it is not very competitive as compared to other faster solutions at the moment.

Similar to the Zcash implementation not being the fastest out there, there are also other algorithms supported by the SGMiner-GM project that may not be the best performing for the moment hashrate-wise. You can however try mining Monero (XMR) with this release of the sgminer-gm as opposed to other alternative miners as it seems to be performing very competitively hashrate wise as well as in terms of power usage. Below you can find a Windows binary of the latest xgminer-gm 5.5.5 release ready for you to try out if you want to check it out. It is the official sgminer-gm and not the fork with NiceHash support, so if you want to use NiceHash’s services use the link above to download their fork.

Download and try the sgminer-gm 5.5.5 Windows binary with ETH, XMR and ZEC support…

Is it worth using on Nvidia cards (Opencl)?

Nvidia OpenCL compatibility is not that good, so you might have trouble even making it work. Better stick with CUDA miners on Nvidia…

It all depends on the video card you have available in the computer…

Nice miners screenshot…3 min work and 100% rejected & 0 accepted shares… :-)

The screenshot is with the official sgminer-gm version on nicehash, you need to use the nicehash fork for their servers in order not to have 100% rejects.

Hi,

I have error with this

[04:00:16] Started sgminer 5.5.5-gm
[04:00:16] * using Jansson 2.7
[04:00:16] Probing for an alive pool

[04:00:16] Building binary ethashCypressgw192l4.bin
[04:00:17] Error -11: Building Program (clBuildProgram)

Any reason?

Ardan, what video drivers are you using, maybe update if they are old. We have not tested it on old AMD Radeon 5000 series GPUs, there is a chance that it will not work on so old hardware if the miner is optimized for newer video cards…

Hi admin,

Thanks for replying. Yes i use old drivers because as I remember the new one of my card update catalyst is making mouse flickering each time you install something that’s why i rolled back.

yes i use 5xxx old series. but the zcash bat working just fine but not xmr and eth.

Ethereum Benchmark:

SGMiner-GM 5.5.5 – 125MH/s (25MH/s on 5 cards and 0.35MH/s on one)
Claymore’s Miner v7.4 – 162MHs/s (27MH/s+ on every card)

I tried “setx” and it did not work.
using “set” did work.
I had to insert the “=” sign for each variable.

set GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR=0
set GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE=100
set GPU_MAX_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS=1
set GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
set GPU_MAX_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

rem i tried a less complicated command line ignoring the “-X 1024 -w 192 -g 1”

rem sgminer -k ethash -o stratum+tcp://eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -u 0x683feddafc2a8542744a4587de0c45626d7b8e68 -p x -X 1024 -w 192 -g 1
sgminer -k ethash -o stratum+tcp://eu1.ethermine.org:4444 -u 0x683feddafc2a8542744a4587de0c45626d7b8e68 -p x

pause

Anyways, once again a command that does not work for me.
I also dont know why they are clearing the screen in the background it is riiculous because yuo can miss what errors or warning u get,
like being able to confirm if u have connected to a pool and x y z

Sgminer is generally not very compatible with Nvidia hardware, it is OpenCL and is originally made for AMD GPUs, even though some algorithms may work, the performance you will get is generally not as good as with a CUDA miner…

Hi,

I tried to mine monero, changed the pool to nanopool, but after “* using Jansson 2.7”, it asked me to enter at least one pool.
I rechecked my config, and the pools were already there.

Did I miss any other config?

it is surprising the lack of documentation or instructions of use these miners have. Not only sgminer, but most of them.

I have some type of issues:

[19:39:37] Building binary ethashGeForce GTX 1070gw256l8.bin
[19:39:37] Error -9999: Building Program (clBuildProgram)
[19:39:37] ptxas application ptx input, line 116; error : Call has wrong number of parameters

I tried to update the ./configure with CFLAGS=”-Os -Wall -march=native -I/usr/local/cuda/include” LDFLAGS=”-L/usr/local/cuda/lib64″ ./configure –disable-git-version –disable-adl

it did not work.

Any solution around?

With this miner I get 13.2mh with my Radeon Vega Frontier ed. @ 1269mhz and undervolted to 990mv.

With MKX miner I get 52mh with the same settings.

This is for Vertcoin mining. MKX sucks because you can only use it on a few high latency nodes. SGminer sucks because of the lackluster speed.

Fortunately Nextminer is almost out – https://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/7kih13/nextminer_open_source_miner_daily_updates/

So is there any AIO solution for running Nvidia, Radeon, AMD at the same time?

Preferably with a gui and not a command prompt.
