New ccMiner Fork with X15 Algorithm Support Now Available

There is now a new ccMiner fork with support for the X15 algorithm available for Nvidia GPU miners thanks to djm34 (source). The X15 algorithm support is still a bit rough, but it works quite well already, so you can experiment with it and try mining with your GPUs. We have tried it on a GeForce GTX 750 Ti where we are getting about 1450 KHS hashrate when mining for a X15 crypto coin such as BitBlock, and from a GeForce GTX 780 Ti you can expect to get around 2600 KHS in terms of hashrate with this new miner.

We have compiled a windows binary of the new miner and you can download it from the link below. Do note however that the windows binary is compiled for Compute 3.0, 3.5 and 5.0 cards (32-bit version only) in a single binary, so it will not work on older cards. If you are unsure what version of Compute does your video card support check the included GPU Compute Capabilities List file. It is also compiled with Visual Studio 2012, so if you do not already have Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 you will have to download and install it, otherwise you may be getting error for a missing DLL library.

At some point, it would be helpful if you published a summary of all the different algorithms and the benefits of each. There are so many that I’m having trouble keeping up with them. I mean, I know scrypt-N is hardware intensive, but more likely to be ASIC resistant for the long haul, but how does that stack up to X11, X14, X15, X32iu329876923749723?

Charlie, X11 and all other after that are less intensive for the GPU – use less power and the load is lower, so the better choice for the summer for example. Essentially X13 has two more algorithms than the X11 etc., so a bit less performance in terms of hashrate, but still lower power usage and temperature compared to Scrypt-N which is more intensive. The X-type algorithms are also more or less the same ASIC resistant as you need to have a hardware that is capable of using multiple algorithms and not just one that does have higher memory requirements. New coins are moving to new X-whatever just because of rig rental services as these do need some time to adapt and start offering the new algorithm, making things more fairer for the average miner.

I know is old story, just wanted to point out that with this version, on a gtx 970 (OC to 1400MHz) i got around 2.7 MH while running the (what i now refer to “dedicated for my gtx 970”) ccminer-1.5.38-git-spmod (taken from you as well), i am going around 5.6 MH. Of course, for X15.
