This came as a bit of unexpected surprise, but it seems that BitMain already has a working ASIC miner for the Blake (2b) mining algorithm (and maybe even for other variants of Blake) and they have announced their plans to start shipping the Antminer A3. The Blake 2b crypto algorithm is currently being used by SiaCoin (SC) and last year there was a pre-order for an official SiaCoin ASIC miner the Obelisk SC1. BitMain’s ASIC miner however seems to be arriving much earlier with similar specifications and price, so anyone that has pre-ordered an Obelisk SC1 might not be that happy. On the other hand people that are interested in getting into mining SiaCoin and missed their chance with the pre-order might order now from BitMain and get the device shipped in 10 days after payment according to the company.

BitMain Antminer A3 Specifications:

If you are a miner using Bitmain’s Antminer L3+ Scrypt ASICs for mining Litecoin (LTC) or another Scrypt-based altcoin you might be interested in checking out the Blissz modified firmware for the L3+. A while ago we have covered the Antminer D3 Blissz Modified Firmware For Improved Performance and the good news is that the L3+ modified firmware offers pretty much the same improvement and features as for the X11 ASIC. Optimized power usage and performance, extra features and various improvements are available, though in order to take full advantage of the modified firmware you will need to know what you are doing. Also note that this modified firmware does come with a 1.5% developer fee built-in, though the improvements it might being are definitely worth the dev fee and if you do not like what you get you can always get back to the stock Bitmain firmware.

Innosilicon has announced another new product in the form of a more powerful Scrypt ASIC miner called the A6 LTCMaster supposedly capable of delivering 1.23 GHS mining hashrate for Scrypt-based cryptocoins with 1500W of power usage. The new miner device is up for pre-order with January 20th to February 10th shipping, the price is $6300 USD or the equivalent of about 23.5 LTC or almost 0.4 BTC. The new device does seem like it just combines two of the previous Innosilicon A4+ LTC ASIC miners both in physical appearance and in terms of specifications as the new Innosilicon A6 LTCMaster essentially doubles the hashrate and the power of the previous device at just $100 less price than what two A4+ miners would cost. What Innosilicon should work a bit more on however is not the release of new miners all the time, they are doing pretty good with that, but instead on their service and customer support as a lot of people buying their devices do seem to complain of trouble in the communication with the company.

Innosilicon A6 LTCMaster Specifications:
– Part Number: INNOSILICON A6 LTCMaster
– Hashrate: 1.23 Gh/s (+-8% performance, can be over-clocked at user’s risk)
– Power Consumption: 1500W (+/-8%, normal mode, at the wall, with 93% efficiency PSU, 25°C temperature)
– Size: (L)350mm*(W)500mm*(H)155mm (dual tube)
– Net Weight: 7.55KG (without PSU)
– Voltage: +12V
– Required rated PSU: 1600W or above, 17 * PCI-E 6Pin
– Cooling: air-cooled with 2 fans per tube, 4 fans in total
– Internet connection: Ethernet
– Power supply connection: 2 PCIE port per power board
