The latest update of the AMD OpenCL GPU miner lolMiner 0.9 brings significant performance boost for the Cuckatoo 31 algorithm used by Grin on 8GB AMD cards (+22% on Polaris and up to 30% on Radeon VII) and reduced Grin stale shares. The new version also has the 16GB solver for GRIN-AT31 disabled as it seems that the 8GB solver is faster at the moment in terms of hashrate. Do note that currently AMD Navi support is disabled for the new algorithms and Cuckatoo-31 on ROCm drivers falls back to 4GB kernel.

Expected performance on Cuckatoo-31 (stock settings):
– Sapphire RX 580 Pulse 0.55 g/s
– Radeon Vega 64: 1.2 g/s
– Power Color Radeon VII 1.53 g/s

We remind you that lolMiner is a closed source OpenCL GPU miner available for Windows and Linux as pre-compiled binaries only and that there is a developer fee for using the software (1% for all supported algorithms). The miner should work on Nvidia GPUs with OpenCL, however stability and performance could be far from optimal, so it is best for use with AMD GPUs. For Nvidia GPU miner with support for Cuckatoo 31 you can check out the latest GMiner, NMBiner or some of the other option like BMiner etc.

The latest update of the AMD GPU miner lolMiner 0.8 brings support for the Cuckatoo 31 algorithm used by Grin, for GPUs with either 4GB and 8GB video memory (lower memory mens less performance) for Windows and Linux. To mine with the new algorithm you need to use the parameter --coin GRIN-AT31, NiceHash does not currently seem to be supported for C31 though. It is interesting to note that the Grin cycle finding is completely done on the GPU, so the miner has almost zero CPU load (on AMD, Nvidia has some due to OpenCL back end). Aside from Cuckatoo 31 support the new version also has some Stratum bug fixes (NiceHash) for Equihash 144/5, 192/7 and 96/5, improved general stability of the miner as well as added distinct 1GB, 3GB and 4GB as well as 6GB and 8GB kernel for mining MNX for Windows (the Linux version that already implemented had this in 0.7.1).

It might work on Nvidia with OpenCL, however stability and performance might not be optimal, so it is best for use with AMD GPUs.

The latest update of the AMD GPU miner lolMiner 0.7 alpha5 brings support for BEAM (Equihash 150,5 algorithm) on NiceHash giving access to AMD miners to sell their hashrate on the platform. In the last day the most profitable hashrate selling was for BEAM on NiceHash, but unfortunately not for AMD… it was for Nvidia miners with higher-end GPUs. Nevertheless, AMD miners now have access to sell their Equihash 150,5 hashrate as well on NiceHash with the lolMiner 0.7 alpha5, just make sure you set TLS to off for use with NiceHash (--tls 0 in cmd or "TLS" : 0 in config file to turn if off for BEAM).
