We have already talked about the new Brave browser and their Basic Attention Token (BAT) as a means to offer users an alternative to browse the web faster, safer and also to be able to support their favorite websites or Youtube video with regular crypto currency donations (coins or tokens). Well, if you still have not tried the Brave browser now you have a good reason to give it a try as you can get 30 BAT tokens for free if you do (a little over $6 USD value) to use to support your favorite online publications. Do note that this is a limited promotion as Brave will grant 300,000 promotional tokens to browser users, so make sure you get yours before they run out.

The promotion rules state that Brave browser users will receive promotional Basic Attention Tokens (BAT), which must be used within 90 days, via their Brave wallets after they opt into the offering or they will be lost. You need to download and use or update to use the latest desktop browser release (0.19.105) to receive the promotional BAT offer right after you activate the Brave Payments feature of the browser. The tokens will be released from the User Growth Pool (UGP), which was created during the sale of the utility tokens in May 2017. The UGP consists of 300 million tokens set aside to incentivize users to join the Brave platform. This initial promotion has a cap of 300,000 tokens and it will be distributed to current and new Brave users over the next 30 days or until the cap is reached.

This promotion is a one-time grant of BAT available for:
– Users who have not installed Brave, but download it during the promotion;
– Users who browse with Brave, but have not yet enabled Brave Payments;
– Users who have enabled Brave Payments, but have not added funds to their wallet; and
– Users who have enabled Brave Payments and who already have funds in their wallet.

This blog is a verified publisher supporting Brave Payments, so if you like what you read here feel free to show your support by using the Brave browser.

We have already covered the new – Brave browser and the ideas that the people behind the project have about integrating Bitcoin payments. The Brave Browser’s Brave Payments allow users to replace website ads with a kind of regular donations supporting their favorite websites, but the project wants to take things even further with their upcoming token sale. Brave’s BAT or Basic Attention Token the sale of which is about to start tomorrow is going to extend things a bit further in the new way that online ads will function.

The idea of the Basic Attention Token is to radically improve the efficiency of digital advertising by creating a new token that can be exchanged between publishers, advertisers and users. The token will be used to obtain a variety of advertising and attention-based services on the Brave platform. The utility of the token is based on user attention, which simply means a person’s focused mental engagement and it will all happens on the Ethereum blockchain at the BAT is an ERC20 token built on top of Ethereum.

The goals of the whole Brave ecosystem including the BAT are to not compromise on privacy, but at the same time help advertisers get better results and users to bothered by ads if they don’t want to, but if they do their attention for actually seeing the ads will be rewarded with BAT tokens as well. So in theory every one will win – the advertiser, the publisher and the user. The idea is really good and will hopefully help in providing a real alternative for the users of the Brave browser as well as for publishers and advertisers that really want better results and alternatives besides the big players in the online advertising game that control most of the market.

We are really interested in the Basic Attention Token as well as the whole Brave project and have been keeping track on how things develop, even if we are not big fans on token sales in general, there are still some projects that we like so much and want to support and this is one of those. Our advice to you is to check out the Brave browser if you still haven’t tried it, it is not only available for computers, but for mobile devices and also keep an eye out on the BAT sale starting tomorrow.

A while ago we have introduced the Brave Payments Feature Powered by Bitcoin as a means for users to support their favorite websites by using the Brave browser and tipping them with Bitcoin. Now it is time to go through the Publisher side of things, guiding you through the steps required from website owners to claim any funds their users have sent them. This is an alternative way for users to support the websites they follow and like with their ads blocked by the Brave browser, because after all ads are usually the main revenue stream for most websites that do not sell products or services, but instead provide information.

Lets get started with what you need to go through in order to start using Brave Payments for your own website and be able to get supported by your readers through Bitcoin tips. You need to start by opening the Brave Publishers Dashboard to initiate the signup process and versification of your ownership of the website you want to register. Just click on the Start Verification button to initiate the website ownership confirmation process…

The first step is to enter your website URL and your contact details, after submitting that information you will receive an email to the address you have entered with a confirmation link. You need to click on that link in order to confirm you are the owner of the email address that you have entered in the contact information form.

The next step is to confirm your actual ownership of the website you are registering in the Publisher program of Brave, there are two options here – wait a couple of days to be contacted by a Brave Publisher Partner to complete the process or add a DNS record to the domain of the website in order to automatically complete the verification process in a couple of minutes. The second option is preferred if you have access to the DNS records of your domain and can add an extra TXT record to finish the confirmation process, otherwise you will just have to wait to be contacted.

Finishing the website ownership confirmation will show you if you actually have some fund pending that users may already sent your way and it also requires you to go through some more additional steps like entering your Bitcoin address where any funds you receive will be transferred on a monthly basis.

After entering your Bitcoin address you will also need to Declare IRS tax status by filling in the respective electronic tax form and submitting the information to Brave depending if you are US or Non-US based individual or a company.

That is it you are ready to get supported with Bitcoin tips by your readers if they are using the Brave browser’s Brave Payments feature of your high risk merchant processing and you should now focus on better content than thinking about getting advertisers. Also if you still haven’t tied the Brave browser now is probably a great time to – download it and give it a try, the browser is available for Windows, Linux and Mac as well as Android and iOS mobile platforms.
