The popular service for leasing and renting mining rigs for different crypto algorithms – Mining Rig Rentals has just added support for CryptoNightV7, the new POW algorithm that Monero (XMR) and some other Cryptonight-based coins are planning to fork to as a cauntermeasure to the recent wave ot Cryptonight ASIC miners. In the next couple of days we are expecting to see some of the more popular CryptoNight coins to start forking to the new CryptoNightV7 mining algorithm, so there might be increased demand for hashrate for that algorithm. There are still not much mining rigs available for CryptoNightV7 at the moment after the launch of support for the new mining algorithm, but we expect to see more of these becoming available very soon. There are already a few miners available that do come with support for the new V7 of the algorithm available that we have covered already. Remember that with this service some people are leasing their mining hashrate while others are renting the available rigs, so you might want to try either of the sides and not just only one of them to see what works best for you…

The Cast XMR CryptoNight GPU miner for AMD RX VEGA 56/64 GPUs has just been updated to version 0.9.2 with another important milestone – not needing the user to use the Blockchain AMD drivers for the optimal performance. The new version promises 99% the performance of the Blockchain Compute Beta driver achieved with the latest standard Radeon Driver 18.3.4 as well. This is definitely a relief for people still using the Blockchain drivers as they have some specifics in making them work properly and are not entirely bug free. We are reminding you that recently with the latest updates Cast XMR added support for the upcoming CryptoNightV7 POW fork for Monero (XMR) and other Cryptonight-based coins. Feel free to try the new version of Cast XMR with the latest 18.3.4 video drivers and report if you are getting the same performance on AMD Radeon RX VEGA GPUs as you are with the old Blockchain video drivers.

The Cast XMR CryptoNight GPU miner for AMD RX VEGA 56/64 GPUs has just been updated to version 0.9.1 with a slight performance improvement of 0.5% overall for Vega-based GPUs according to the developer of the software. The previous version 0.9.0 from eralier this month has already added support for the upcoming CryptoNightv7 fork for Monero (XMR) and other coins in the view of the new wave of ASIC miners targeting that crypto algorithm. Do note that Cast XMR is a closed source miner available as a binary only for 64-bit Windows and comes with a 1.5% developer fee. It is originally optimized for ADM RX VEGA GPUs using the Blockchain driver, though it should also work fine on other AMD RX series of GPUs.

Cast XMR should be able to autodetect and switch between CryptoNight and CryptoNightV7 on Monero (XMR) and most other coisn that decide to fork as well, though there is also an option available to switch manually to the desired version of the CryptoNiht algorithm in case there is an issue with the autodetection (use the --algo command line option). Currently it seems that the only GRAFT is having trouble working properly with the autodetection mechanism, so it is advised to manually select the version for the moment. GRAFT has not yet forked, so it is currently still using the old CryptoNight version and not the new V7 as are pretty much all other coins that have already announced their plans to also fork to v7. Just as a reminder, Monero (XMR) will fork at block 1546000 or around April 4th and that is less than two weeks away.
