ccminer-1-8-1-tpruvot

Tpruvot has made an official release of his updated ccMiner fork (source) version 1.8.1 along with Windows x86 and x64 binaries available for download. The x86 Windows binary is compiled with VS2013 and CUDA 8.0 RC and the x64 binary is compiled with CUDA 7.5, it is best to use the latest video drivers to have support for CUDA 8.0.

The new ccMiner 1.8.1 adds support for mining Siacoin (SC) on Nvidia GPUs using CUDA, SIA uses Blake2-B algorithm, though at the moment different pools still seem to rely on different protocols for mining and not all of them are yet supported by ccMiner. The miner supports the SIA Nanopool RPC (getwork over http) as well as the getwork over Stratum implementation of Suprnova, but not yet the Siaminingpool stratum protocol (you should still be able to mine there via getwork). The hashrate seems to be slightly better than that Sia Go Miner that uses OpenCL and also works on Nvidia GPUs.

The new version 1.8.1 also comes with small improvement in the LBRY hashrate improvements (by alexis78) over the previous release 1.8 that introduced Library Credits mining. So if you are mining LBC with Nvidia GPUs, then you might wan to update to the new release in order to get slightly better hashrate. The Lyra2RE support has also been updated with the with the Nanashi Meiyo-Meijin improvements, so it should be faster than before.

The Siamining mining pool for Siacoin (SC) we have written about recently has also added Stratum support. Their Stratum implementation however is a bit different from the one that Suprnova has introduced a few days ago for their mining pool and thus requires users to use a different version of sgminer. While the Suprnova Stratum implementation is more of a getwork over Stratum and based on our tests it does perform very well, Siamining is claiming that their solution in true a Stratum support, so in theory it should result in slightly better efficiency. Of course the Siamining mining pool does still support the regular Siacoin Go pool miner that also produces very low percentage of stale shares, though with Stratum support the results should be even better now.

Below you can download a 32-bit Windows binary of the sgminer 5.4.0 fork for Siamining with Stratum support (source). Do note that this miner will currently only work with the Stratum Mining Protocol for Sia implemented by Siamining. The miner works on both AMD and Nvidia GPUs, so you should be covered regardless of the GPUs you have available, though it uses OpenCL for both. Our initial tests are showing really good results in terms of efficiency and lack of stale shares, so it seems that things are already working pretty well with this Stratum implementation for Siacoin (SC) pool mining at Siamining. As a result now you have even more alternatives for pool mining Siacoin to try and choose from…

sgminer-5-4-0-siacoin-stratum

The first Siacoin (SC) mining pool with Stratum support by Suprnova is now available in beta and you are welcome to give it a try and report your experience with it. In theory the stratum support should result in further reducing the stale shares and improving efficiency, so if everything works fine you should be able to mine more coins for the same time. Again, a reminder that the pool is still in beta and since it was just recently launched it still has not found a block, but in order to attract users to test it out there is currently a promotion giving away 20% Bonus for every Block found on the pool. Do note that the pool requires a special fork of sgminer with support for Stratum for Siacoin (source).

Below you can find a 64-bit Windows binary of the miner for Siacoin (SC) mining that you need to use for mining on the pool. Our initial tests have shown that the miner offers similar performance to the one you can get with the Siacoin Go pool miner on other pools or just a bit faster with higher intensity. You may experiment with the settings and report what works best on your hardware, we have tested the miner on both AMD and Nvidia GPUs and it works fine on both. Again a reminder that the Siacoin stratum pool is still in beta, so it is for testing only and you might want to move just one GPU for example and not transfer all of your hashrate.
