ZeusMiner is apparently working hard in improving the power consumption of their Scrypt ASIC miners and they have just released a video showing some new prototypes with 30% better power efficiency compared to the already available products. The new devices should be capable of providing 19-20 MHS with less than 400W of power usage and 9-10 MHS with less than 200W according to the latest update from Zeus. These numbers sure do look better than what the current power consumption of the ZeusMiner Scrypt ASIC miners is, but are still far from what we were promised before the company has finalized their products. There are still more powerful 55nm Scrypt ASIC miners, in terms of hashrate, that do offer lower power usage than what the new miners from Zeus should be providing. The advantage that ZeusMiners do have however is the more attractive price of the hardware, and that can be a reason enough for people with cheaper electricity to go for them.

cgminer-4-3-5-zeus-gridseed

There is a new cgminer 4.3.5 fork available with support for the Zeus-based Scrypt ASIC miners as well as Gridseed Scrypt ASICs by a user called dmaxl (source). This version brings cgminer more up to date in terms of supported features for the users of ZeusMiner-based ASICs as well as for Gridseed users. We have compiled a windows binary of this new cgminer fork that you can download and try from the link below. Do note that you may need to replace the CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller driver with a WinUSB one by using the Zadig software, though direct serial control will also work by specifying the correct COM port of the miner to use (check the Readme file for more details). We have successfully managed to run the miner but do note that it crashes sometimes, so it might not be working perfectly yet and it may also needs a bit more work on support.

bfgminer-4-2-0-branch-zeusminer-windows

We already had a fork of bfgminer with support for the ZeusMiner devices, however there is now an official branch of bfgminer 4.2.0 that has support for Zeus ASIC chips (source) that you can download and try. The support for the Zeus is still a work in progress, so it will be some time before the support gets integrated in the main branch of the miner, but it is already working quite well. Below you can download a windows binary ready for testing do check the included Batch file example for the options how to run the software so your ZeusMiner will be detected and used in the miner. The default configuration is for ZeusMiner Blizzard (6-chips) running at 328 MHz frequency, also do note that the command line disables the bfgminer to run on any OpenCL devices that you may have, so they will be show as OFF in the list as you can see on the screenshot above. Interestingly enough Zeus has finally have made available the source of their cgminer 3.1.1 for with support for the ZeusMiner ASIC chips on a GitHub repository.
