Here comes an updated ccMiner 1.7.6-r6 Widows binary of the Nanashi Meiyo-Meijin fork (source) with optimized Lyra2REv2 performance. The latest r6 update might bring a slight performance increase in Lyra2REv2, however it significantly increases the performance of the Lyra2RE algorithm based on the few tests we ran, results of which you can find below comparing the r5 and r6 released on different Maxwell GPUs and the new Pascal GTX 1080.

You can download a 32-bit Windows binary of the ccMiner 1.7.6-r6 fork from Nanashi Meiyo-Meijin compiled with VS2013 and CUDA 8.0 with a wider range of Nvidia GPUs supported – from Compute 2.0 all the way up to Compute 5.2 (we have only tested it with Maxwell and Pascal GPUs though). You can follow the development of this fork on the official dev thread, though it is in Japanese and you may need to use an online translation service.

New ccMiner 1.7.5 fork with Blake2s Mining Support

The Blake2s algorithm is a new entry in the crypto mining scene and while initially there was only CPU mining support available for it now there is also a ccMiner fork with support for Blake2s algorithm on Nvidia GPUs (source). The initial CPU mining support for Blake2s was first introduced in cpumuiner-multi from tpruvot, though there is now a new more-efficient CPU miner available here. With the release of a GPU miner however CPU mining might be not worth it anymore, even though for the moment there is only GPU mining available for Nvidia-based video cards and no for AMD, but soon we are probably going to see Blake2s supported on AMD as well. The miner below is a 64-bit binary compiled with VS2013 and CUDA 7.5 for Compute 3.5, 5.0 and 5.2 GPUs, a 32-bit binary compiled with CUDA 6.5 for Compute 2.1, 3.0. 3.5, 5.0 and 5.2 GPUs is also included. Do have in mind however that the 64-bit version of the miner seems to be offering better performance for mining Blake2s coins.

Back to the ccminer 1.7.5 fork with Blake2s support. Our tests have shown that you can get somewhere around 1080 MHS for a Geforce GTX 970 GPU with a slight increase of the intensity over the default one, the power usage of the GPU while mining is about 168 Watts. For the moment it seems that there are just two altcoins that can be mined with Blake2s, but we are not going to be surprised if we soon see some more getting released. The first one is called NevaCoin (NEVA) and the more recent one launched yesterday is called OXEN. You might however want to be extra careful with OXEN as it seems that there might be a hidden trojan/virus inside the client as some users are reporting suspicious activity after installing the wallet!

Updated ccMiner 1.7.2 fork by tpruvot With VanillaCoin and Decred Support

Version 1.7.2 of tpruvot’s ccMiner fork source) for GPU mining on Nvidia-based video cards has been released and it comes with official support for Vanillacoin (VNL) as well as Decred (DCR) support. Below you can find compiled Windows binaries to try out the mining them, both are Blake256-based, but with some different requirements such as the need to use longpoll and getwork, and no support for stratum for Decred for example. There are two versions available, the 32-bit one is with support for older Compute 2.1 and 3.0 GPUs while the 64-bit version is for the newer Compute 3.5, 5 and 5.2 cards. We have tested the new release on GTX 970 and the results are slightly better at about 1.35 GHS (with the 64-bit miner) than what we are getting with the cgminer fork for Decred that relies on OpenCL that is also compatible with Nvidia cards. The ccMiner fork might be helpful to people that are having very high CPU usage with cgminer that results in lower mining performance, though the CPU load is still not that low even with ccMiner. Also the use of ccMiner for mining Decred could result in less rejected shares from the pool and no weird errors as some people are experiencing with cgminer, so if you are mining DCR on Nvidia with cgminer, then you should try with ccMiner as well.
