bfgminer-4-0-0-gridseed-mining

The software bfgminer 4.0.0 has been released and now the latest version does come with official support for Gridseed-based ASIC devices built-in, among a lot of other new features and improvements. The miner is intended for mining Scrypt and SHA-256 crypto currencies and the biggest advantage is the support for many ASIC miners, though most of these are still for Bitcoin mining and not for Scrypt. If used for Gridseed ASIC mining the advantage here is that you don’t need to replace the virtual USB to COM drivers with WinUSB or to send as parameters the COM ports for the ASIC devices to the miner – they will be autodetected. Below you can download the compiled windows binaries for the miner (32 and 64-bit) and be sure to check the example BAT files for running on Gridseed ASICs or just for Scrypt mining with a GPU. You can also compile bfgminer from source if you are using other operating system for example.

You can download the new bfgminer 4.0.0 binaries for Windows OS here…

Tested this out on 10 and 40 gridseed issues.

Good news
is that there are no missing miners on the 10 and 40 miners everytime you restart bfgminer unlike on cgminer.

Bad news
Takes well over 20 mins to reach full speed. Speeds fluctuate as well
Not all miners seem to get any work.
Tested for an hour and found it really slow

Going back to cgminer

tested with a gridseed and EAH5850 he reconice the gpu with out any problems, on the gridseed reconice the scrypt and sha256 but sha256 module is dead all the time. the readme file say the dualmining was enable

Tested on my G-Blade for 2 hours,
original COM port drivers support is nice but it does not worth for all HW I just received….
Accepted hashrate is lower then with CGminer and speed is really unstable

I had to go back on CG 3.7.2

Really hope there will be some version of CG without daily crashes or fully stable BFG one day :)
There is a way how to check temperature of blades ? I don’t know if there is a temp probe but it would be nice

Ran this overnight with my 25 GS connected to a W7 Box. 5 devices after 12 hours still had no submitted shares. This is the same problem I have with every build of BFGMiner, some number of GS will look to be hashing, but won’t hash. I had hoped this would have been fixed by now, a shame.

I really wish one or the other gets fixed. It’s damned irritating to mine with these on windows.
