Kim Dotcom Demonstrates Bitcache on Video

Kim Dotcom has posted a video on Twitter demonstrating how the upcoming Bitcache system will work for uploading and sharing content that will support payment with Bitcoin. Bitcache is supposed to be in the heart of the upcoming MegaUpload 2.0 (MU2) service that promises encrypted anonymous content delivery with built-in Bitcoin payments support. Interestingly enough, while Bitcache will be used by MegaUpload 2.0 as its first client it should also be available for other services that want to easily integrate Bitcoin micropayments.

Online Demo of the xOS Interface of Minebox

The creators of the Minebox NAS storage with support for SIACoin (SC) have made available an online demo of the xOS interface that their devices apparently use, allowing users to get a feel on what to expect from the devices. Minebox is still running their limited pre-order of 200 units with 138 left to go, so you can still reserve yours if you are interested in the project and also want to support it. The sale is running a bit slow with some users not liking very much the higher price of the devices, but then again getting an NAS solution with the same HDDs for storage probably won’t be much different price wise and it will not have the features Minebox has.

Purchasing Games from Steam with Bitcoin is Quick and Easy

If you did not know Steam has introduced support for online game purchases with Bitcoin in April last year, allowing users of the crypto currency to quickly and easily spend it for software. The payment processor that Valve is using for accepting Bitcoin payments is BitPay. We have recently tried purchasing some games with Bitcoin from Steam and were pleasantly surprised by the experience we’ve had…

Once you select Bitcoin as the payment method you are presented with a QR code to scan to do a payment with a mobile device or you can just copy and paste the BTC address and the amount of coins you need to send to complete the payment. You have 15 minutes to initiate the transaction and as soon as you send the coins and the transaction gets broadcasted over the network the payment is accepted, no need to wait for a minimum of 6 confirmations or anything like that. Really quick and easy to pay with Bitcoin for games on Steam and then you can just go on playing them, so if you still haven’t tried paying with Bitcoin then you might want to give it a try.
