ccminer-sp-whirlpoolx

The WhirlpoolX algorithm is now supported in both the latest updates of the ccMiner forks from SP (source) and Tpruvot (source). So we have compiled windows binaries from the latest source for both miners and decided to test the performance we are getting mining the WhirlpoolX altcoin Vanillacoin (VNL). Do note that the sp-mod fork of ccMiner is optimized and supports the newer Computer 5.0 and 5.2 Nvidia Maxwell GPUs where the performance is maxed out while the tpruvot fork supports Compute 3.0 or newer video cards. We have tested the performance we are getting on GeForce GTX 980 GPU with the two miners, the SP version as expected gives out higher performance on a Maxwell card as expected with about 233 MHS while the tpruvot fork is not that much slower with about 222 MHS mining WhirlpoolX. So if you are mining WhirlpoolX on Nvidia-based video cards or leasing your hashrate you might want to update your miner to the appropriate version depending on your GPUs.

ccminer-1-6-git-tpruvot

Recently we have been compiling and releasing windows binaries of the ccMiner fork by SP that is optimized for newer Nvidia GPUs based on the Maxwell architecture, but tpruvot has been active lately and we have decided to compile and release a windows binary from his latest source. The windows binary we have compiled for ccMiner 1.6-git by tpruvot (source) is with support for Compute 3.0 or later Nvidia-based video cards, unlike the SP releases that are Compute 5.0 and 5.2. This means that if you are using older video cards you should go for the tpruvot release as the SP fork will not function on these, newer Maxwell GPUs however will get much better performance with the SP fork. Below you can find a quick comparison we did with the latest ccMiner 1.5-41 fork from SP and ccMiner 1.6-git fork by tpruvot using a GeForce GTX 980 GPU running at stock frequencies.

ccMiner 1.5-41 SP:
X11 – 9098 KHS
X13 – 7230 KHS
X15 – 6226 KHS

ccMiner 1.6-git tpruvot:
X11 – 8239 KHS
X13 – 6669 KHS
X15 – 5830 KHS

ccminer-1-5-41-git-spmod

A new update from the latest code of the ccMiner 1.5.41-git SP-MOD fork of the Nvidia GPU miner optimized for the latest Maxwell-based video cards by SP (source) in the form of a compiled Windows binary. The latest version comes with some fixes and additional performance increase in multiple algorithms and seems to be working stable with most of the more common algorithms supported. It seems that the latest code and maybe some releases before that do have some issue with Lyra2RE support on GTX 960, the default launch parameters seem to be wrong resulting in driver crash, so you might want to try manually setting intensity 19 or 20 to make it work properly. The SP-MOD fork is designed for running on Nvidia Maxwell GPUs such as the already available GTX 750, 750 Ti as well as the newer GTX 960, GTX 970 and GTX 980. The windows binary release we have made available here is compiled with support for Compute 5.0 and Compute 5.2 GPUs or with other words only for Maxwell-based cards with CUDA 6.5 and VS2013.
