Brave has announced that now Twitch streamers can also start to earn revenue in connection with the Brave browser and the Basic Attention Token (BAT). Brave has seen strong growth of new users and creators (including thousands of YouTube channels) after recent announcements and now it seems that it is time for Twitch streamers to join in with a new way to get supported by their viewers. For those new to Brave, it is a faster, more private browser that also includes Brave Payments, a built-in method of supporting content creators. The Brave browser is integrated with the Basic Attention Token (BAT) using the Brave Payments feature, so that audience members can give to support their favorite publishers unrelated to self-publishing companies, YouTube creators, and Twitch streamers using the crypto tokens.

The Brave browser lists the viewed Twitch channels in the Payments list, so that fans can donate tokens every month. Twitch streamers simply register as Brave Publishers to start receiving BAT contributions from Brave users. Twitch streamers can register their channel alongside other properties they may have (Web site, YouTube channel) as part of Brave’s multi-property support. Brave uses the Twitch.tv API to authenticate Twitch channels, after the streamer’s email is confirmed by the system. Once the verification process is complete and the streamer opens an account with Uphold, they can start receiving BAT contributions every 30 days.

We have been following the new Brave browser that promises to give you better and safer browsing experience by blocking ads and trackers and revolutionize the way people support their favorite websites and Youtubers. We have been following the development of the browser and the evolution of the Brave Payments for quite a while now and this blog has been a verified Brave publisher for almost a year now.

Unfortunately based on our experience it seems that Brave does need a lot of work in making their Brave Payments feature really usable and the tokens available in the hands of many people in order for them to use them. It is not that the company hasn’t been trying to do so, it just seems that there is much more work still left to do based on our own experience. For almost a year being part of the Brave movement we have received a staggering 2.07 BAT tokens as contribution form our readers, something we are thankful for, but at less than a dollar value total it is hardly something that can help us remove traditional ads for now…

The latest effort by Brave to promote their browser is targeted at content creators such as us that can promote the Brave browser to their readers and possibly get some more tokens in return if the users keep using the software. So if you have not yet tried the Brave browser you might want to give it a go and if you like it (it is free after all and works very well) you may also support us this way.

Today Brave announced the launch of their new giveaway of $1M worth of BAT tokens giveaway to users of the Brave Browser in order for the to be able to support their favorite websites and video content creators on YouTube. Last month Brave was giving away 30 BAT tokens free to new users and now they are doing it once more, so if you have missed activating the Brave Payments option in the Brave browser you can do so now and claim your free BAT (Basic Attention Token) now. Last month Brave granted $50000 worth of BAT tokens to approximately 10000 users according to the company and all those tokens were claimed within 30 hours, so do not miss your chance now.

Each user that claims his free BAT tokens will receive approximately $5 USD in promotional BAT which must be used within 90 days, meaning that you need to send these tokens to websites or video creators that you wish to support. Publishers, websites, and YouTube channels that receive tokens from Brave users will open a new means of monetizing content amid declining ad revenues, increasing ad fraud, and arbitrary demonetization campaigns. Ultimately, publisher and user adoption should continue to drive greater utility for the BAT and that is the goal of these giveaways that Brave is doing lately, so don’t miss your chance to be a part of that…

How this works for users:
The promotion is available to all Brave desktop users using the latest Brave version (0.19.134). New users can participate by downloading the browser. Once a user accepts the grant from the promotion notification in the browser, the tokens will be displayed in their Brave Payments wallet (under the Preferences panel). Users can then support their favorite content providers automatically and anonymously.

How this works for publishers:
If you’re already a Brave-verified publisher, you can receive more BAT by announcing this promotion to your users and encouraging them to “pin” your site or channel in their Brave Payments panel. Users can also allocate a specific percentage to pinned sites. If you’d like to start receiving contributions from your audience, but are new to the BAT platform, simply verify your site or YouTube channel with us and Uphold. Publishers that set up an account with Uphold can collect these contributions 30 days after the end of the promotion, as BAT contributions are automatically converted to fiat and directly deposited into the publisher’s bank account via Uphold.

The freely distributed BAT tokens must be used within 90 days of being received to support publishers and creators, otherwise they will automatically return to the BAT User Growth Pool (UGP), a fund of 300 million tokens set up to incentivize users and publishers to join the decentralized platform. Do note that the Brave wallets are currently unidirectional, meaning that the tokens cannot be withdrawn and can only be given away to creators, so make sure to support your favorite publishers. This blog is a verified publisher supporting Brave Payments, so if you like what you read here feel free to show your support by using the Brave browser.
