The Gulden (NLG) crypto project, an older one available for a few years already originally based on Scrypt Proof of Work algorithm, has switched the mining algorithm. Their new PoW algorithm targeted at CPU mining is called SIGMA and is designed to be ASIC/GPU resistant. The goal of the algorithm switch is to also attract new miners and users for the project as there hasn’t been much development for Scrypt mining for quite some time and mining hasn’t been largely become unattractive for a lot of users not having ASICs and cheap electricity.

SIGMA or Semi Iterated Global Memory Argon is a new and unique algorithm developed for NLG. The algorithm is designed to require more memory, making it impractical for implementation by ASICs rising the price, but not entirely impossible. It is also complicated to make fast hashing parallel on GPUs to achieve much faster performance than on CPU, so CPU mining for now is the only option for mining Gulden coins. It seems that CPU mining is getting a lot more attention lately with RandomX as well and other algorithms like SIGMA.

Moving back to CPU mining means that everyone with a low, or mid to high-end CPU will be able to mine new NLG coins, for the moment there is no pool mining for SIGMA and NLG. Mining is SOLO and done through the official local wallet, so for mining you need to download the latest version and you need to update it anyway if you had some Gulden coins stored in a wallet prior the fork. So make sure you update to the latest available version as there have been some fixes in the last few days after the fork happened on October 16th that fix issues. If you need a good crypto exchange where to trade NLG coins you can head on to Bittrex.

The author of the popular SRBminer CryptoNight AMD GPU miner has just updated his new mining software called SRBMiner-MULTI CPU and AMD GPU Miner to version 0.1.2 Betta adding support for the new kangaroo12 (k12) algorithm on GPU and CPU. The miner is targeted at algorithms for CPU mining as well as some CPU and GPU ones for more recent AMD-based video cards (R9 2xx series and newer)… other than the CN-based algorithms that the other SRBminer Cryptonight oriented miner software for AMD GPU supports. The latest version also fixes the dev fee at a lower 0.85% value for all of the supported algorithms (no more lower or higher developer fee) as well as comes with some bug fixes.

Do note that just like his CryptoNight GPU miner, this new CPU and GPU AMD miner is also available only for Windows (Linux version might be coming out soon as well hopefully) as a pre-compiled binary and there is a built-in developer fee now fixed at 0.85% for all supported algorithms. You can find the currently supported algorithms below:

CPU-only algorithms:
– cpupower
– yescryptr16
– yescryptr32
– yescryptr8
– yespower
– yespowerlitb
– yespowerr16
– yespowerltncg
– yespowersugar
– yespowerurx
– yespower2b

CPU + GPU algorithms:
– blake2b
– blake2s
– keccak
– mtp
– rainforestv2
– yescrypt
– eaglesong
– k12

The author of the popular SRBminer CryptoNight AMD GPU miner has just updated his new mining software called SRBMiner-MULTI CPU and AMD GPU Miner to version 0.1.1 Betta adding support for a few new algorithms and some bug fixes. The new miner is targeted at algorithms for CPU mining as well as some CPU and GPU ones for more recent AMD-based video cards (R9 2xx series and newer)… other than the CN-based algorithms that his other AMD GPU miner supports. The new algorithms include: yespowerltncg, yespowersugar, yespowerurx, yespower2b, eaglesong (nervos-ckb) algorithms and there is also added support for SHA with yespower algorithm family.

Do note that just like his CryptoNight GPU miner, this new CPU and GPU AMD miner is also available only for Windows (Linux version might be oming out soon) as a pre-compiled binary and there is a built-in developer fee as follows: 0% for blake2b and yespowerurx, 1.70% for rainforestv2 and 0.85% for all other supported algorithms. The miner does not yet have support for the new RandomX algorithm, but it will hopefully get one at least regarding CPU support in the future, you can find the initially supported algorithms below:
