Since Ethereumpool has updated their Ethereum mining pool in a way that it requires the use of the latest version 0.9.41 of ethminer and we’ve got requests to post the latest version, we have prepared a package including ethminer 0.9.41 CUDA by Genoil (source) as well as the official ethminer 0.9.41 from the master branch (source) for Windows (64-bit is required!).

Do note that the CUDA version of the miner does support OpenCL mining as well and not only CUDA on Nvidia cards, the OpenCL support should function on both Nvidia and AMD GPUs. The ethminer 0.9.41 CUDA version is based on the new CUDA OpenCL PTX branch that requires at least Compute 3.5 capabilities from your Nvidia-based video card, so it may not work on older video cards. If you are having trouble running the new CUDA miner in CUDA mode on older Nvidia GPU you can revert to an older version or try using ethminer in OpenCL mode. Additionally to get better performance you can try adding the following command line parameters to the ethminer OpenCL and CUDA version:

For OpenCL: --cl-global-work 16384
For CUDA: --cuda-grid-size 8192 --cuda-block-size 128 --cuda-turbo

We have tested the two versions of ethminer version 0.9.41 and they both seem to work well as well as to report the actual hashrate you get when mining using the Ethereumpool mining pool regardless of what hashrate (difficulty) you set via the command line for running the miner software.

I read people were having issues with the 750ti on windows mining Ether. Do the 750ti work well with this version on Windows or is it still better to use Linux for the 750ti?
thanks!

Yes, some people are reporting of having issues with 750 Ti, so it is still better to use Linux, but you can still try to see if you will have an issue with the Windows miner.

I’m getting the following error with the new cuda minder (gtx 980):

miner 18:43:38|main Mining on PoWhash #bea8e41f… : 17457792 H/s = 16515072 hashes / 0.946 s
X 18:43:39|main Failed to submit hashrate.
X 18:43:39|main Dynamic exception type: class jsonrpc::JsonRpcException
std::exception::what: Exception -32700 : JSON_PARSE_ERROR: The JSON-Object is not JSON-Valid: empty

The error is the same with or without the extra cuda parameters you guys mentioned. Is this a known issue? Reverting back to the older miner will let me mine again.

brandon, which pool are you mining at, have you tried with a different pool?

I’m mining at Coinotron. I’ll give another pool a try when I get home with the new miner and post back results. Odd though that the older version of eithminer will submit shares.

We have not tested it with Coinotron as they just recently added ETH pool, they are probably using older client version that has trouble with the latest miner.

I think you’re quite right, thx admin. I’m able to mine at SuperNova pool with the updated ethminer. Heads up for other Coinotron users: as of this posting, 0.9.41 ethminer isn’t supported.

I am having problem with 6*750ti. It won’t work with 6 cards. When I use “-t 5” it starts to mine OK. I tried that on nanopool. Any idea?

Hey it’s great that you are distributing my miner, but I would be careful with just using whatever state my source tree is in or use test-binaries I post in the forum thread. Most of them work, but I’ve caught myself posting buggy binaries. To be 100% sure you can actually mine some shares/blocks, test a few minutes with -S flag. You should not get any errors.

BTW latest cudaminer-frontier branch is 2-3% faster.

Does –cl-global-work 16384 work better than –gpu-batch-size 20 –gpu-workgroup-size 88 for opencl mining

It depends, you can try it, but note that some of the command line parameters are specific only to some versions of ethminer and will not work on all.
