cgminer-3-7-2-gridseed-windows

We have compiled an updated version of the cgminer 3.7.2 for Gridseed 5-chip ASIC devices with some small fixes and have an option to try and overclock the device over the previously available maximum limit of 1000 MHz. Now you can try running the device at 1050, 1100, 1150, 1200, 1250 and 1300 MHz, though these in our experience going past 950 MHz will most likely produce only hardware errors, you are still welcome to try. So far 850 MHz operating frequency for Scrypt only mining mode seems to produce the best results with most devices, though you are welcome to experiment with yours. For a guide on how to install and use the Gridseed 5-chip ASICS with this cgminer. Also note that cgminer 3.7.2 for Gridseed does require you to replace the standard virtual USB to COM driver with WinUSB driver with the help of the software Zadig in order for cgminer to be able to detect and use the GSD ASIC devices.

new-heavycoin-high-performance-cpu-miner

There is now a new Heavycoin (HVC) cpuminer available compiled for 64-bit systems that offers increased performance with up to about 30% than the previously available miner. This version of the miner has been compiled from the source code of the 1GH pool modified miner, they don’t yet have it available as a binary on their HVC pool. We have tested it and it indeed works better and offers higher performance (depends on the CPU used), so if you are mining the Heavycoin crypto, then you should update your miners. Note that there are some people that claim to have already working GPU miners for HVC, be wary of such people asking you to pay for the miner with crypto as it is most likely a scam! There is currently no GPU miner available for Heavycoin and though it might be possible for such, none is available for the moment at least. Meanwhile you can update your CPU miner to get some extra boost in the hasrate you are already getting from your miners. Also note that the current reward per block for HVC has been increased to 861 for the moment from the previous award of 657 HVC per block, so you will be mining more coins because of that as well.

bfgminer-gridseed-support

Another software miner now has support for the 5-chip Gridseed GC3355 BTC/LTC ASIC devices and that is bfgminer, though you should note that there is a separate branch that supports the Gridseed hardware and the official 3.10.0 release is not compatible. The version that you can download below compiled for windows is the one with Gridseed support and you can also use it for Scrypt GPU mining, though the command line we have provided in the BAT file is only going to start bfgminer and look for Gridseed devices (remove the -d gridseed option to use GPUs too). Also note that the command line starts the miners with 850 MHz operating frequency that should result in about 360 KHS scrypt mining hashrate (60 over the stock 300 KHS) – should be stable option for good overclock performance with low to no HW errors, but your results may vary. You can get down to 800 MHz if you are getting more HW errors, or try to get up to 900 MHz if you get no HW errors to see if you can get 380 KHS stable.

This version of bfgminer shoudl work with both the earlier 5-chip Gridseed ASIC devices as well as the newer revisions, it detects and work with our miners using both the newer STM32 Virtual COM port driver as well as the older CP2102 USB to UART Bridge Controller. Note that bfgminer requires the devices to be working with their standard virtual COM ports and not to have the drivers replaced with Zadig with WinUSB like cgminer does. If you have installed the WinUSB drivers you may need to Uninstall the drivers and unplug and plug the ASIC devices so that the default driver is installed again. Alternatively you can try to install the GridSeed.inf driver you will find in the miner archive. Note that the version of bfgminer provided here is only for Scrypt (LTC) mining on the 5-chip Gridseed ASIC devices!
