With the Ravencoin (RVN) fork to X16Rv2 right around the corner already we are starting to see updates to popular mining software adding support for the new algorithm the coin will be switching to. It has been a while since we have seen an update for the z-enemy miner (one of the most popular choices for X16R mining on Nvidia GPUs in the past), but here it is with the latest version 2.2 adding support for the X16Rv2 algorithm. The latest version also adds support for secure stratum+ssl connections and comes with some fixes as well regarding a GPU data error in JSON API and a PHI2 bug on CUDA 10.1.

The latest z-enemy version 2.2 is available for Nvidia CUDA 9.1, 9.2, 10.0 and 10.1 for 64-bit Windows versions as well as CUDA 9.1, CUDA 9.2 and CUDA 10 binaries for Linux (HiveOS, PiMP OS, EthOS & Ubuntu). Make sure that you have the respective recent video driver version installed for the CUDA version you want to use – 388+ for 9.1, 397+ for 9.2 and 411+ for CUDA 10.0 or the latest ones for CUDA 10.1. We remind you that the z-enemy is a closed source miner software, is available only as a binary release and that it contains a 1% developer fee built-in to support further software development.

The Conceal (CCX) project is another attempt at a privacy oriented crypto coin that offers some interesting features one of which is the so called Decentralized Banking with coins getting locked to earn interest. Conceal is based on the Cryptonote protocol and uses the so called CryptoNightConceal algorithm, a variation that is based on CryptoNight and thus is considered to be an “AMD Coin” due to the fact that AMD GPUs usually do perform better in CN algos. With low mining profits and with more people looking into mining other interesting projects however even Nvidia GPU miners are looking into potentially interesting CN-based coins. Some exchanges to trade CCX coins include Citex, Stex, qTrade and Graviex.

With the latest CryptoDredge v0.21.0 Nvidia GPU miner support for the CryptoNightConceal algorithm has been added and the performance does not seem that bad. The performance you can expect from a GTX 1080 Ti is around the same an RX 580 8GB can do (around 1700 h/s) per GPU. With the help of the OhGodAnETHlargementPill you can get an extra ~200 h/s per GPU and the best of all is that the power usage is pretty low compared to most Nvidia GPU algorithms (around 850W per 6x GTX 1080 Ti GPU mining rig at the wall). So you might want to give this a go, though currently the profitability even in this case is not that attractive, but hey… you are risking with something with potential here, that is the whole idea, right?

As both Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) are getting close to the Epoch 299 (the currently supported one by the previous versions Claymore GPU miners) Claymore has released an updated version of his dual GPU miner for Ethash algorithm with the new version 15.0 supporting up to Epoch 384. If you don’t know the Epoch 384 will mark the limit for mining for the GPUs with 4GB video memory, meaning that they will not be able to mine Ethereum (ETH) anymore as well as any other fork that reaches that epoch. Currently Ethereum Classic is at Epoch #289 or slightly ahead of Ethereum which is at Epoch #281, so make sure you update your Claymore miner before reaching #299 if you are mining any of these Ethereum variants (or any other Ethash-based alternatives although they are probably far behind in terms of Epochs). Reaching Epoch #384 is probably going to happen near the end of 2020 and the next 6GB Epoch is probably going to be reached sometime around beginning of 2024 for Ethereum… that is unless we switch to PoS before that time, but even if ETH switches to Proof of Stake other Ethash coins probably won’t.

Apart from the update regarding new DAG Epoch support for the latest version 15.0 of Claymore’s Dual AMD and Nvidia Ethereum GPU miner, there is also added support for Navi cards (ETH-only mode), now the miner also sets environment variables automatically (required for 4GB AMD cards) as well as some minor bug fixes and improvements. So make sure that you update your miner for Ethash if mining ETH or ETC at the moment on your GPU mining rigs, before the software stops functioning properly at Epoch #299, you have a bit more time before that happens, but do not wait for the last minute.
