It Is All About BTC, LTC, ETH, DOGE, KAS mining as well as other alternative crypto currencies
The popular service for leasing and renting mining rigs for different crypto algorithms – Mining Rig Rentals has just added support for CryptoNightV7, the new POW algorithm that Monero (XMR) and some other Cryptonight-based coins are planning to fork to as a cauntermeasure to the recent wave ot Cryptonight ASIC miners. In the next couple of days we are expecting to see some of the more popular CryptoNight coins to start forking to the new CryptoNightV7 mining algorithm, so there might be increased demand for hashrate for that algorithm. There are still not much mining rigs available for CryptoNightV7 at the moment after the launch of support for the new mining algorithm, but we expect to see more of these becoming available very soon. There are already a few miners available that do come with support for the new V7 of the algorithm available that we have covered already. Remember that with this service some people are leasing their mining hashrate while others are renting the available rigs, so you might want to try either of the sides and not just only one of them to see what works best for you…

There were rumors, leaks and information about an upcoming Ethash ASIC miner from Bitmain for months, but now it is official as the company has announced their Antminer E3 device. The first ASIC miner capable of mining Ethereum (ETH) and other crypto currencies using the Ethash / Dagger-Hashimoto algorithm is capable of delivering 180 MHS hashrate at 800W of power usage and will cost you $800 USD. The first batch of Antminer E3 Ethash ASIC miners is scheduled to start shipping 16-31 July according to Bitmain’s website, so the devices should start appearing in the first user’s hands sometime in August, although the devices will probably be up and running on the network before that.
Looking at the specifications, you are essentially getting the equivalent of a regular GPU mining rig for Ethereum in terms of hashrate and power usage, but in a more compact and cost efficient format with the Antminer E3. Unfortunately the word is that besides Bitmain a couple more companies have also been working on Ethash ASIC miners, so soon we may start seeing more announcements with different specs similar to what happened with the recent wave of Cryptonight ASICs. So you should be careful when you are doing the math and considering if you should invest in the first generation of Ethash ASIC miners now, you if you should wait a bit more and see… especially considering they are not shipping immediately at this point. We also need to see what will be the response of Ethereum to the ASIC miners now that they are available as they may decide to follow the same road that Monero (XMR) choose – to fork the mining algorithm with the idea to continue to be ASIC-proof or switch to POS sooner than expected.

There is a new official release of tpruvot’s ccMiner fork version 2.2.5 available (source) that adds support for a few new mining algorithms, namely X12, X16r and X16S. The latest release also fixes issues on Neoscrypt and Equihash for the Nvidia Volta cards according to the developer. The two new X16 variants are getting a lot of attention lately – the X16r used by Ravencoin (RVN) and X16S used by Pigeoncoin (PGN). For people looking to mine X16r or X16S this may not be the fastest implementation out there, there are a lot of different ccminer forks and miners supporting that might provide better performance, so you might want to play around with these as well.
The latest official release version 2.2.5 from tpruvot is available as both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows binary releases for everyone using Windows and not keen on compiling the miner from source. The Windows binaries built with CUDA 9 for SM 3.0 or later Nvidia GPUs, so make sure you have up to date video drivers installed with support for CUDA 9.0 on your mining rigs.
