There have been numerous attempts for making websites listing various crypto currency related events such as new coin launches, but none has been very successful for long. Reasons for the lack of success lie in many factors, but most often the dependence on a single user actively maintaining and supporting these sites is the common failure point. At some point the person maintaining the listing website loses interest, does not have the time required or has some other reasons to stop maintaining it up to date and things start spiraling down… we have seen many examples over the years. There is however a new interesting project that can finally offer an interesting alternative and be there on the long run because of the way it operates. The website in question is called CoinMarketCal and is a community driven cryptocurrency events calendar…

This new cryptocurrency events calendar is essentially being maintained by its users. The visitors are the people that can not only explore the available events, but also can add events (providing proof) and their submissions are being validated with the help of a voting system (users also validate events getting rid of fake news). There is even the option for users submitting events to also get a reward in the form of a tip sent from other visitors with Bitcoins as a BTC address can be also be left by the contributor. The last part with the rewards does not seem to be generating much, if anything at all, for the event contributors at this point, but with the growth of the project that feature might also get more attention for the good contributions.

All in all the project does seem to be promising and with more users and some further improvements, especially in the part regarding the browsing of published events, things can get interesting and even more useful. We like good projects that provide usability for people, so we definetly recommend that you check the CoinMarketCal website and give it a go, maybe even contribute some interesting crypto related events or find some interesting ones that you might have missed. We like the idea and the current implementation and with a bit more polishing and usability improvements… who knows it might turn up to be a great resource for crypto users. We are going to be keeping an eye on the project and probably so should you.

Cast XMR – Highspeed CryptoNight Miner for Radeon RX Vega GPUs

There is a new Monero (XMR) CryptoNight miner out for AMD Radeon Rx Vega GPUs called Cast XMR that claims to be capable of reaching hashrates of more than 2050 CryptoNight H/s on an single RX Vega 56 or Vega 64 GPU (with a high power consumption). The miner is designed to support CryptoNight/CryptoNote based currencies such as Monereo (XMR), Bytecoin (BCN), DigitalNote (XDN) and Intense (ITNS) to be used with RX Vega GPUs and. There is a 1.5% dev fee included and currently is is available only for Windows OS (binary), no source code due to the developer fee, though apparently a Linux version is also coming soon.

According to the author of the miner is should be capable of providing you with about 1900 H/s at about 200W or over 2000 H/s at 250W of power usage, so if power and cooling is not an issue you might try to get the most out of your RX Vega GPU with this miner. To get the best performance you will need to use the AMD Blochchain Compute Driver (version is 17.30.1029) as well as to toggle the HBCC Memory Segment. While AMD’s new Radeon RX Vega GPUs are a bit buggy as far as mining goes and cause some headaches they are still doing great in terms of CryptoNight mining performance (when they work) and are also interesting option for Ethash dual mining as well, if you manage to keep them cool. Squeezing the best performance out of the RX Vega GPUs requires a lot of power usage and thus a lot of heat being generated, also getting more than 4 of these cards in a single mining rig is still a problem.

HyperBit is the Official Worldwide Distributor for the BW-L21 Scrypt ASIC

If you remember a while ago we have talked about the 550 MHS BW-L21 Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner as an interesting alternative to Bitmain’s AntMiner L3+ Scrypt ASICs. Unfortunately back then these were hard to order as there was a minimum order quantity of 100 units and not an easy and straightforward way to order them. This is apparently about to change as the manufacturer of the devices Biwang Electronic Commerce Co. (BW) has appointed the Australian company Block Assets Limited trading as HyperBit as their Worldwide Retail Distributor for the L21 ASIC miner. So finally some competition for BitMain in the home mining segment and more options for the small miners to get back into the Litecoin mining…

You can currently order the 550 MHS BW-L21 Litecoin ASIC miner from HyperBit at a price of $2690 USD in single unit quantities and get it delivered worldwide with a shipping set to start on 30th of November for the current batch of miners. The L21 is apparently the current leader in terms of performance Litecoin Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) miner on the market with 550 MHS hashrate and with just 900W of power usage. It is not clear what the situation with the power supply is at this point however, is there one included (no mention), but a PSU does appear on one of the product photos. Most likely you would need to buy the PSU separately, one that does provide at least 1000W of power and comes equipped with at least 6x 6-pin PCI-E power connectors. Do note that all orders are being shipped directly from the manufacturers location – Shenzhen, China.
