ethminer-genoil-1-0-8

Genoil has updated his ethminer 0.9.41 fork to version 1.0.8 (source) and here is a Windows binary of the latest version that you can try. Genoil’s fork of ethminer is targeted at Nvidia CUDA miners, but it also works on AMD OpenCL for mining of Ethereum (ETH). The new version 1.0.8 has some minor bug fixes and improvements, but probably the most important new feature is the much improved output you get that is more user friendly with a single line of text reporting your current status. You are welcome to download and try the compiled binary of the latest 1.0.8 version and make sure you are also taking advantage of the recently introduced Stratum failover feature as well. Check the example BAT file for more information on how to use the new Stratum failover mode and do check out the new shorter log output with hashrate and accepted and rejected shares by the pools as well as fails.

ethereum-blockchain-file-size

It is not even a year since the mining of Ethereum’s Ether (ETH) coins has started and due to the short block time and the huge user interest the total size of the blockchain data of Ethereum has already grown huge and continues to grow rapidly. The current size of the Ethereum blockchain data files is already over 16 GB and just about two months ago it was a bit over 9 GB. With the increasing demands for storage to host the full blockchain data as a part of a local wallet or a full network node more users might be switching to online wallets and other services that do not require the user to have a local copy of the data files such as exchanges for example. With more users getting into Ethereum the number of transactions on the network is also growing and by the time when the switch from PoW to PoS phase happens we could even have Ethereum’s blockchain size getting close to that of Bitcoin. If you look only at ETH alone even 20 GB might not be that much, but if you have a local Bitcoin wallet as well as a few other crypto wallets installed on a PC with the full blockchain stored locally you might even start experiencing issues with available free space and things will only get worse with the fast increase of the size of the blockchain data.

Ethereum is one of the fastest growing cryptocurrencies next to Bitcoin. Just a few months ago, the price was $1, then it shot up to $13 and today it has settled at just under $10. This rapid growth excited investors who were eager not to miss out on another hyper-growth investment opportunity.

While some choose to invest in Ethereum directly, many are turning to Cloud Mining to enter the market. Genesis Mining, the world’s largest cloud mining provider and first Ethereum cloud miner, announced today a significant decrease in their price to mine Ether.

Starting today, the price will be $37 per MH/s, reduced from the current rate of $44 per MH/s. Discussing this price change, Genesis Mining co-founder and CEO Marco Streng stated, “Every day, we are working to reduce operational costs to mine on behalf of our 200,000 customers and every time we have the opportunity to provide greater ROI potential and value to our customers, we are honored”.

Following the price reduction announcement, Genesis Mining released footage of their Ether cloud mining farm, Enigma, which is the largest Ether cloud mining farm in the world. You can view the newly released footage here. CTO of Genesis Mining, Stefan Schindler stated “The reason we are able to continue reducing the price for our customers is due to heavy optimization of the Enigma farm and economy of scale. We are proud of bringing Ether Mining mass deployments to a next dimension with Enigma.”

Like all cryptocurrencies, the future of Ether remains uncertain, but the tone of the conversation surrounding Ether is different than almost any other cryptocurrency. Discussing the excitement, Streng stated, “We believe it is headed to the moon and we are building a rocketship to make sure our customers do not miss out”.
