ArQmA (ARQ) is another crypto project that has revealed plans to fork to a new RandomX-based algorithm called RandomARQ. This project has been started in 2018, but is still wit pretty low market capitalization and low trading volume according to data from CoinMarketCap, so there is much room for growth. The ArQmA (ARQ) fork to the new RandomARQ algorithm is currently planned for 8th of November at 23:50:00 at block 303666, though this might not be the final date. The latest XMRig v4.3.0-beta had just added support for the new RandomARQ algorithm with “rx/arq”, so you should be good to go by the time the fork happens should you decide to check out the project. Currently ArQmA (ARQ) uses the CryptoNight Turtle algorithm, so it is still mineable with GPUs. Since RandomARQ is based off RandomX it will be CPU friendly algorithm, so mining after the fork will be done mostly with CPUs due to the fact that the algorithm has been designed to be processor friendly and not GPU, ASIC or FPGA friendly. Some good crypto exchanges to trade ArQmA (ARQ) coins include Citex and Crex.

The DERO project is one more crypto coin that plans to move from CryptoNight to the new RandomX algorithm most likely before the end of the year. The reason that is cided is to introduce more decentralization and participation to their platform with the move to the RandomX proof-of-work algorithm. Currently DERO can be mined using CryptoNight ASIC miners and this is something the developers of the project are trying to move away from and attract new users with the mining algorithm switch. The new RandomX algorithm should go live on the DERO testnet on October 31, 2019 and soon after that if everything works as expected we could see the main network forking to the RandomX PoW as well. Currently DERO is ranked around 500th place according to CoinMarketCap data with a market capitalization a bit below 4 million USD and has a daily trading volume of about 1/4 of the total capitalization. Some good crypto exchanges to trade DERO coins include Stex, Crex, Citex and TOKOK.

RandomX is a proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm that is optimized for general-purpose CPUs. RandomX uses random code execution (hence the name) together with several memory-hard techniques to minimize the efficiency advantage of specialized hardware. More information about the RandomX algorithm from the official GitHub repository including a benchmark to test performance on CPU mining. Do note that RandomX dos manage to perform better on processors with higher number of cores and threads available and apparently is doing best so far on the latest AMD Ryzen series of CPUs. GPU miners are also available, however performance wise they are similar to what hashrate a lower-end dual core processor can provide, so they are not the best choice for the new RandomX algorithm for the moment.

The author of the popular SRBminer CryptoNight AMD GPU miner, doktor83, has just released a new mining software called SRBMiner-MULTI CPU and AMD GPU Miner. The new miner is targeted at algorithms for CPU mining as well as some CPU and GPU ones for more recent AMD-based video cards (R9 2xx series and newer)… other than the CN-based algorithms that his other AMD GPU miner supports. Do note that just like his CryptoNight GPU miner, this new CPU and GPU AMD miner is also available only for Windows as a pre-compiled binary (it is closed source) and there is a built-in developer fee as follows: 0% for blake2b, 1.70% for rainforestv2 and 0.85% for all other supported algorithms. The miner does not yet have support for the new RandomX algorithm, but it will most likely get one at least regarding CPU support, you can find the initially supported algorithms below:

CPU-only algorithms:
– cpupower
– yescryptr16
– yescryptr32
– yescryptr8
– yespower
– yespowerlitb
– yespowerr16

CPU + GPU algorithms:
– blake2b
– blake2s
– keccak
– mtp
– rainforestv2
– yescrypt
