New lolMiner 1.0 alpha 1 OpenCL Miner With Support for Cuckaroo-30 for Cortex (CTXC)

The latest update of the AMD OpenCL GPU miner lolMiner1.0 alpha 1 brings support for mining Cuckaroo-30 used by Cortex (CTXC). For mining Cortex (CTXC) on Nvidia GPUs you might want to use the latest GMiner, though lolMiner 1.0 alpha 1 should also work using OpenCL on Nvdia-based video cards as well, but the performance may not be optimal as with a mining software relying on CUDA. Do note that the Cuckaroo-30 algorithm needs 7.6 GB of GPU memory, so video cards with less than 8 gigabytes of video memory will not work, also the dev fee is 2.5% for Cortex (CTXC) and not the normal 1% like for for other supported algorithms by the mining software.

We remind you that lolMiner is a closed source AMD OpenCL GPU miner available for Windows and Linux as pre-compiled binaries only and that there is a 1% developer fee for using the software for all supported algorithms. The miner should also work on Nvidia GPUs with OpenCL, however stability and performance could be far from optimal, so it is best for use with AMD GPUs.

New GMiner 2.05 With Improved Performance for Qitmeer (PMEER)

The latest GMiner 2.05 Nvidia and AMD GPU miner continues improving the recently added Qitmeer (PMEER) support that proved to have quite big demand for CPU power initially. The previous version 2.04 of the miner has improved the situation a bit with the introduction of an additional parameter to reduce CPU load, but the latest update does this even better. The CPU usage has been decreased significantly and should now be fine for GPU mining rigs with lower-end processors mining Qitmeer (PMEER), and there is also a significant performance improvement of up to 30% over what was already available. The only thing that you might not like that much yet is the remaining higher 5% dev fee for that particular algorithm that the miner still has compared to the regular 2% for other algorithms.

The GMiner miner software was originally only an Nvidia GPU miner, although some algorithms are already supported on AMD GPUs as well. Do note that GMiner is a closed source miner for Nvidia and AMD GPUs with binaries available for both Windows and Linux, there is a 2% developer fee built-in the software.

New GMiner 2.04 With Support for the New KAWPOW Algorithm

It did not take long and now the latest GMiner 2.04 GPU miner had added support for the new KAWPOW mining algorithm that RavenCoin (RVN) might/could/should/would be forking to sometime in April. The KAWPOW algorithm is a derivative of ProgPOW with parameters specific for RavenCoin, so another miner with ProgPoW support will not work unless specific RVN support is added like in the case of GMiner that already had ProgPoW support, but needed an update for KAWPOW support. Do note that support for KAWPOW is currently only available for Nvidia GPUs and that goes for ProgPoW as well. You can already test KAWPOW support on the RavenCoin test network to get ready your miner, there miner RVNt testnet tokens do not have any value though.

Besides the new algorithm being added, the latest version of GMiner addresses an issue we have noted regarding high CPU usage in Qitmeer (PMEER) support. There is a new “--trim” parameter being introduced to control additional trim round count for Cuckoo24 (Qitmeer) algorithm that should help reduce CPU load, so you can give it a try and see if it helps if you have any GPU mining rigs with lower-end CPUs that have high CPU load issue.
