The latest release of the XMRig 5.5.0 comes with a number of stability fixes addressing a number of crashes and some improvements. It also adds support for the CryptoNight-Pico (Talleo) algorithm and removes the support for the RandomV algorithm that was recently added in XMRig 5.4.0 since MoneroV has forked again very soon after forking to the RandomV algorithm, unlike the RandomSFX algorithm used by Safex Cash that remains supported. Support for RandomV and RandomSFX is also available in the latest SRBMiner-MULTI, though RandomV support there is also pointless now since no other project uses it and MoneroV is now on cuckarood29v.

The latest release of the XMRig 5.3.0 comes with additional performance improvements for RandomX mining with AMD Ryzen users reporting up to 6-7% boost and less for Intel thanks to automatic disabling of the CPU prefetchers using the MSR registers on OS level (both Windows and Linux are supported). Prior to adding automatic support for that you could manually do the trick to get the same boost, but it is much easier when the miner does everything on its own (make sure you run with root/admin privileges. Since the RandomX algorithm accesses memory randomly prefetchers just don’t help and disabling them can actually help improve performance, so a nice extra boost in performance for RandomX that you should take advantage of. If you are using Lunux you can also try the 1GB huge pages support that was introduced recently in version 5.20 to gain an extra 1-3% performance.

The latest release of the XMRig 5.1.0 just came out after the successfull Monero (XMR) hardfork to RandomX and it brings improvements in performance. RandomX performance is improved up to +6-7% on Intel CPUs and +2-3% on Ryzen CPUs, so if you are mining Monero (XMR) at the moment or any of the other RandomX-based crypto projects such as LOKI, ArQmA or Wownero you might want to update your mining software. The developer of the mining software also notes that you should always disable “Hardware prefetcher” and “Adjacent cacheline prefetch” in BIOS for Intel processors in order to get the optimal RandomX performance with them. With this latest performance improvement XMRig might yet again lead the pack of RandomX miners by a bit, followed by SRBMiner-MULTI and still the bit slower XMR-STAK-RX.
