miner-control-kbomba-mod

The Miner Control tool, successor of NiceHash Control that has been developed by StuffOfInterest, is a useful piece of software for Windows users that want to make it simple and easy to mine the most profitable coin or rent their hashrate for the maximum profit without much effort other than setting thing up initially. The author of the original tool however hasn’t been working on it and adding new features for a while, not that the software is not useful enough as it is, but there are still some things that can be improved and added to make it even better. Thankfully the development has been picked up by Bombadil who has released his own improved version called KBomba-Mod (source) that adds some extra features and has further improved the tool. The best thing is that his modified version is fully compatible with the original config file, so you can just add the configuration that you are already using to the latest Miner Control v1.6.4 KBomba-Mod and it will work. Then you can start experimenting with his additions without having to waste any time to migrate to the new version.

amd-opencl-dlls

If you are using AMD Radeon-based video cards for mining crypto currencies you have probably noticed that some algorithms have issues with various video driver versions or the performance you get may differ between older and newer version. Since the AMD miners use OpenCL there is an easy solution that can help you deal with driver version issues and to get the optimum hashrate for a specific algorithm. There is not need to reinstall the complete video driver, you can just copy the OpenCL DLLs from the respective driver version inside the same folder where the software miner is (cgminer or sgminer) and when you run the miner it will load the different OpenCL version, regardless of what video driver you have installed. Do note that you need to delete the compiled kernel BIN file for the respective algorithm or algorithms when replacing the OpenCL DDL files in order to get the kernel recompiled with the different version. You can download the different AMD Radeon drivers OpenCL version 13.12, 14.4, 14.6 RC2, 14.8, 14.9 and 14.12 in a single package from the link below and try out what performance you will get by replacing the DLL files inside the miner software’s folder.

sgminer-5-1-1-official

There hasn’t been much happening at the official github repository of sgminer for some time (source), so we have not posted a new windows binary compiled from there recently. However they just added some new algorithms and have bumped the version number to 5.1.1, so we’ve had to compile a new binary to try out the new algorithms that were added. The latest sgminer 5.1.1 now does include support for Lyra2RE, Pluck and WhirlpoolX algorithms, so no need to use different forks of sgminer for each of these algorithms. And since these algorithms were added in the official sgminer we can now update our Miner Control package for AMD Radeon R9 280X GPUs that we haven’t updated for a while, so stay tuned for the update. Meanwhile you can download and try the new windows binary with the added support for the three new algorithms.
