As we are nearing the end of July, Alpha Technology, a Scrypt ASIC manufacturer has announced that they will not be shipping this month as they were previously targeting in order to beat the competition. The company announced that they have had technical issues during tape-out which has caused them to redo some portion of the ASIC layout one more time thus delaying the chip fabrication. According to them the tape-out is mid-way now and there should be no more delays, also in parallel to the tape-out process they have already started the fabrication of the PCB’s and enclosures. Regardless the shipping has now been moved to September, so there is some chance that KnCMiner might start shipping their Titan units earlier by the end of the next month, even though Alpha Technology were supposed to try hard to deliver first. And while this is not so good as new for the people that have pre-ordered Scrypt ASIC miners from Alpha Technology, though quite a lot have already requested or even received their refunds, it is good news for the people that have purchased some of the currently available Scrypt ASIC miners such from Gridseed, ZeusMiner, Innosilicon as they will have more time with smaller increase in the total network hashrate before the big miners start shipping.

We have already talked about Minera earlier when it was released as a web-based frontend for Gridseed Scrypt ASIC miners based on sandor111’s CPUminer fork for Gridseed. However the development of Minera did not stop with Gridseed support and the latest version offers much broader support and additional useful features, making it an interesting option for using a Raspberry Pi to control your ASIC hardware. The latest version of Minera comes with sandor111’s CPUminer-GC3355 fork for Gridseed, CGminer Dmaxl Zeus fork for ZeusMiner ASICs as well as the original BFGminer and CGminer software miners and the ASIC miners they support. At the moment Minera is probably going to be most useful to miners using ZeusMiner Scrypt ASICs and we do recommend if you have one of these devices along with a RPi that you are not using for something else to check it out.

The company Mining ASICs Technologies is a fairly new one started early this year, and they came in with some strong promises, so there were a lot of concerns about them initially. Ralph from Bitcoinupdate has just visited the company’s office and met with Marc Coumans, the CEO of the company. He has also published some photos of his visit and additional information that you might find interesting, just follow the link below for more information.

Lately they have been releasing a lot of updates on their Bitcoin mining hardware by showing a prototype of a Titanium 3THS SHA-256 ASIC miner. Just a few days ago the company has also announced they have finished the tape put of their Scrypt ASIC chips, meaning that they are ready for production. So the initially promised shipping of actual ASIC miners in Q3 may seem possible now. Or at least now the company seems more legit.
