The latest update to the CryptoNight AMD GPU miner SRBMiner brings binary kernels on the table, allowing the miner to load faster on some of the most popular AMD GPUs instead of having to compile the kernels on each start of the software. The binary kernels are also a solution to a problem with drivers 18.7 and newer that seem to generate bad kernels, even though these drivers are not recommended. The binary kernels are available for the following AMD GPUs: Vega 56, Vega 64, Vega FE, RX 470, RX 480, RX 570, RX 580, RX 560 and RX 560. Older AMD GPUs such as R9 2×0 and 3×0 series are still supported, but they will still be compiling kernels on each start. If you are having issues with the binary kernels you can just delete the BinaryKernels directory and the miner will once again generate them on each run. There are also some OpenCL optimizations, mainly on the Heavy algorithms, so you can get a few extra percent in them. There are also a number of other fixes and improvements, you can find the full changelog below.

SRBMiner V1.6.7 Full Cangelog:
– Now providing binary kernels for popular algos on mainstream cards (Vega56&64&FE, RX470&480&570&580, RX550&560)
– Auto setup for a lot of cards improved, especially for RX550, RX560
– A lot of OCL optimizations, mainly on Heavy algos (Heavy, Haven, Bittubev2, Italo)
– Removed --sendallstales parameter because it is now the default behavior (to send all stale shares)
– When using algo switching mining time is now showing total mining time, not just for the specific algo
– Now on every miner start a new log file is created, in the format of date-time in normal mining mode
– Added parameter --algoswitchmintime
– Completely setup everything for algo switching on Monero Ocean pools, you just need to edit your algo hashrates, and change wallet in the example files

There is another zealot/enemy-1.17 (z-enemy) miner update from Dk and Enemy that adds even more performance improvements to the supported algorithms available. The new z-enemy 1.17 has a major hashrate boost of 5-10% for X16R & X16S, XDNA (HEX), x17, Bitcore (BTX), c11, Sonoa, Renesis and Aergo. Lower-end Nvidia video cards like the GTX 1050 and GTX 1060 should also see a few additional percents of improvement in performance as well. Also note that the latest miner no longer depends on memory, so it allows to run memory clock at +0 or -500 MHz without performance loss.

The latest 1.17 version is available for CUDA 9.1 and 9.2 for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions as well as CUDA 9.0, CUDA 9.1 an CUDA 9.2 binaries for Linux (HiveOS, PiMP OS, EthOS & Ubuntu). Do note that for maximum performance it is recommended to have the latest drivers installed (ver. 398+). We remind you that z-enemy is a closed source miner available only as a binary release and it contains a 1% developer fee built-in to support further software development.

The T-Rex miner is slowly becoming a more popular solution for mining new coins thanks to the number of supported algorithms and the good performance and usability it offers. The latest version 0.6.1 adds two more new algorithms – Bitcore and Sonoa as well as some slight improvements to performance in all algorithms except Lyra2z. There is also added extra shares submit functionality to reduce the number of rejects on pool side (both resulting in increased poolside hashrate) along with a number of fixes and new features to further improve the software. If you are using it already to mine an algorithm that T-rex 0.6.1 supports you should give it a try. Our usual reminder that T-Rex is a closed source miner and that there is 1% development fee built-in and you need to have a recent video driver installed as the binaries for both Linux and Windows are compiled for CUDA 9.1/9.2.
