New GMiner v1.38 With Additional Improvements For Wider GPU Support

The latest two versions of GMiner 1.37 and 1.38 have increased the supported range of GPUs over what the miner was capable of running on regarding Grin, Swap and Aeternity mining as well as some additional algorithms now also supported on AMD GPUs. GMiner 1.37 added Equihash 144,5 and 192,7 solver support for AMD miners on top of the already existing Cuckaroo29, Cuckoo29, Cuckaroo29s and Equihash 150,5 as well as some minor performance improvements for beam on AMD cards. A 5GB solver for Grin29 / Swap / Aeternity was added as well that allows the mining on 6GB cards under Windows 10 and in the latest release that was further improved by adding 4GB solver for Grin29 and Swap that should work under Linux and Windows 7 on 4GB VRAM GPUs.

The GMiner miner requires an Nvidia GPU with CUDA compute capability 5.0 or later as well as CUDA 9.0 driver support, some algorithms are already supported on AMD GPUs as well (Cuckaroo29, Cuckoo29, Cuckaroo29s, Beam’s Equihash 150,5 as well as the recently added Equihash 144,5 and 192,7). Do note that GMiner is a closed source miner for Nvidia and AMD GPUs with binaries available for both Windows and Linux, also there is a 2% developer fee built-in the software.

CryptoDredge 0.18.0 Nvidia Miner With Argon2d Support and New Features

It has been a while since the last release CryptoDredge 0.17.0 was made available to Nvidia GPU miners, but here comes the new CryptoDredge 0.18.0 and it brings some new and useful features on the table. The new version brings support for the Argon2d algorithm (argon2d-dyn only) as well as the much anticipated support for MTP and Cuckaroo29 on NiceHash. Prior to that the only MTP miner with NiceHash support was TT-Miner and currently MTP is among the most profitable algorithms for Nvidia GPUs on the service. The new CryptoDredge v0.18.0 also makes API more compatible with ccminer API, adds support for mining Aeternity on GPUs with 2 GB of memory (Linux only) as well as introduces support for mining Cuckaroo29 on GPUs with 4 GB of memory (Linux only) and for windows users it indicates activity to suppress auto sleep mode.

Do note that the CryptoDredge miner supports only Nvidia GPUs and is a closed source software that comes with 1% built-in developer fee for all supported algorithms, however the dev fee is 2% currently only for MTP mining (Zcoin), there are binaries available for both Windows and Linux (CUDA 9.1/9.2/10.0).

GrinPurse and GrinPlusPlus Open Source GRIN GUI Wallets for Windows

One of the major issues with the GRIN project has been resolved – the lack of an easy to use GUI wallet for Windows users… and there is more than one option available. The design of the Grin project does not rely on using addresses like we are used to with most other crypto currencies as a means to send and receive coins and that makes transfers a bit more complex. The GrinPurse project is not an official wallet, but a third party project that has been available for a bit already as closed source software developed by a crypto exchange, though the source code has now been made available as well. GrinPurse is not only available for Windows users, but also for Mac OS users.

GrinPlusPlus (Grin++) is a bit more complex project that offers a complete Windows-compatible C++ implementation of the Grin (MimbleWimble) protocol meaning a full node and a GUI wallet for Windows users. More advanced users and ones that want to be able to run their own local node along with the GUI wallet on Windows can opt out to try this particular project that has been available for a few days as a mainnet release. Now not only more advanced Linux users, but also regular users are able to easily use their own wallet and not rely on exchanges to store their Grin coins.

It is worth mentioning that BitGrin, a fork from Grin, has released an official GUI wallet for Windows and Mac OS users last month for their project and that has sparkled some controversy why Grin still does not offer an official GUI wallet (they still do not). Mac OS users had a solution for a while for a simple GUI wallet in the fork of the SuperGrin Wallet released back in February.
