With the Ravencoin (RVN) fork to KAWPOW right around the corner with less than half a day left here is the updated z-enemy 2.5 miner that also adds support for the new ProgPoW-based algorithm. The KAWPOW mining performance that the new z-enemy miner offers seems to be pretty much the same as what we are seeing from the other already available KAWPOW miners with small variation. Like most other miners z-enemy supports only Nvidia GPUs and currently there is only release of the miner available to Windows users. The only KAWPOW miner that supports AMD GPUs at the moment is NBMiner.
The latest z-enemy version 2.5 is available for Nvidia CUDA 9.1, 9.2, 10.0 and 10.1 for 64-bit Windows versions (no Linux release available for now). Make sure that you have the respective recent video driver version installed for the CUDA version you want to use – 388+ for 9.1, 397+ for 9.2 and 411 or newer for CUDA 10.0 or the latest ones for CUDA 10.1. We remind you that the z-enemy is a closed source miner software, is available only as a binary release and that it contains a 1% developer fee built-in to support further software development.

Here comes another update after the recent BMiner 16.1.0 release, the new Bminer 16.2.0 adds support for the new KAWPOW mining algorithm to be used by Ravencoin (RVN) after the fork later today as well as support for the ProgPoW algorithm used by crypto coins such as SERO. Preformance wise ProgPoW and KAWPOW hashrate does not seem to be much different than what all other miners with support for Ravencoin’s new algorithm currently offer. The new version also brings improvements to the performance when mining Aeternity and BFC, so worth updating if you are mining either of those as well.
Do not that although Bminer does support AMD and Nvidia GPUs, not all of the algorithms will work on AMD hardware, so it is mostly usable for Nvidia GPU owners. Have in mind that neither KAWPOW, no ProgPoW currently work on AMD GPUs, so yo can use this software for mining Ravencoin after the fork and SERO only on Nvidia. The same also goes for the Aeternity and BFC algorithms that got some performance boost in the latest release, they also work only on Nvidia GPUs. So far the only KAWPOW miner that supports AMD GPUs is NBMiner, so if you have Radeon GPUs and want to mine RVN after the fork it will be your only option for now.
We remind you that that Bminer is a closed source Nvidia GPU miner available for Linux and Windows in the form of pre-compiled binaries and that there is a standard 2% development fee for most algorithms supported such as Grin, Beam, Bytom (BTM), Equihash and Zhash coins, 0.65% for Ethash and 1.3% for dual mining Ethash and Blake.

With just 1 day left until the hard fork of Ravencoin (RVN) to the new KAWPOW algorithm everyone that is planning to mine the cryptocurrency once more should be well prepared. There are already a number of miners supporting the new algorithm available, as well as some test pools where you can test and setup your GPU mining rigs for optimal performance. The Mining Rig Rentals service for leasing and renting mining rigs has just added support for KAWPOW rigs, but NiceHash has not yet added support for the new algorithm, so no massive hash going on and off on the RVN network after the fork. The KAWPOW algorithm is a variation of ProgPow and the available miners are offering very close performance, so the deciding factor in choosing should be what you are more familiar with and what works better for you (has less fee, or no dev fee at all, is open source or not etc.). Users with Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti might benefit the most from the new algorithm to be used by RVN, AMD owners with one of the most popular Radeon RX 480/580 GPUs might not be too happy whit the hashrate they will be getting (about half of the GTX 1080 Ti). KAWPOW is more GPU intensive and not affected by the video memory that much, so the more powerful the GPU, the higher the hashrate.
AMD Radeon users are significantly limited in their choice of mining software for the KAWPOW algorithm at the moment as there is essentially just one option available – the closed source NBMiner with 2% dev fee for KAWPOW that also supports Nvidia GPUs. The only opensource miner with no dev fee is the official kawpowminer that only works with Nvidia GPUs for the moment, though AMD support will hopefully be also added. The other KAWPOW miners are all closed source and work only on Nvidia GPUs for the moment, these are GMiner with 2% dev fee, T-Rex with 1% dev fee and TT-Miner with 1% dev fee. Our preferred choice out of these miners at the moment is T-Rex for Nvidia GPUs, though we are still waiting to also see an updated release of the z-enemy miner, so our preference may change in the future. We are also hopefully soon going to start seeing some additional optimizations to help differentiate performance from different miners at least a bit more…
