It Is All About BTC, LTC, ETH, DOGE, KAS mining as well as other alternative crypto currencies
The latest SRBMiner-MULTI 0.1.5 miner has introduced support for the RandomX and its few variants for CPU mining, something that we were eagerly anticipating to see and to compare the performance to the already available XMRig RandomX CPU miner. SRBMiner-MULTI 0.1.5 supports CPU mining of RandomX for the upcoming Monero (XMR) fork, the variants RandomXL for LOKI and RandomWow or Wownero that are already using their new algorithms for mining as well as the RandomArq for the upcoming ArQmA (ARQ) fork. There are some new features, improvements and fixes as well that might be helpful and useful with the new release, so you might want to check out the full changelog.
The most important question is what performance to expect from the atest SRBMiner-MULTI and the RandomX algorithm compared to what XMRig is already delivering to CPU miners? Well, unfortunately it seems that so far SRBMiner-MULTI will need to do better in order to catch up to the performance level tat latest XMRig is delivering, at least on AMD’s Ryzen 3xxx series of CPUs that do seem to be delivering one of the best RandomX hashrates out there for the moment. We have tested and compared both miners on an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU (6 cores, 12 threads) and the results are significantly in favor of XMRig. While SRBMiner-MULTI CPU manages to deliver around 3000 H/s in our tests, the same system manages 5500+ H/s, so you might want to stick to XMRig for now until SRBMiner-MULTI gets further improved performance. With an Intel Core i7 6850K processor (6 cores, 12 threads) the XMRig does 2500 H/s while SRBMiner-MULTI CPU manages to deliver just around 1500 H/s and it seems that the slower hashrate is a direct result of the miner not being able to fully utilize 100% of the available processor resources. The overall CPU load for SRBMiner-MULTI mining RandomX is just around 50% and not full 100% percent that it should be with the miner fully using all 12 threads of the processor.

The BLOC GUI Miner is a beautiful, easy to use, Graphical User Interface (GUI) for mining some of the more popular cryptocurrencies based on Cryptonote vailable for Linux, Windows and MacOS. The project is being developed by Bloc.Money (BLOC) (CryptoNight Heavy-Haven algorithm), so by default it starts by offering you to create a BLOC wallet if you do not yet have one, or mine BLOC if you do, but you also have another option to mine for other supported CryptoNote/CryptoNight crypto coins. Besides BLOC, you can also mine: RYO (RYO), Haven (XHV), Monero (XMR), Conceal Network (CCX), Sumokoin (SUMO), GRAFT (GRFT), Quantum Resistant Ledger (QRL), Lethean (LTHN), X-CASH (XCASH), Masari (MSR), Tube (TUBE), AEON (AEON), ArQmA (ARQ), Iridium (IRD), TurtleCoin (TRTL) and Loki (LOKI) with this miner. You start by choosing the coin to mine, entering your wallet address and then selecting a pool where you want to mine from a list and then you are presented with a nice looking GUI with information about the coin you are mining and your hashrate. You can use the settings button to change things such as your wallet ot mining pool as well as if you are CPU or GPU mining (depending on the version of the GUI you use).
There are two main versions of the GUI miner, one using XMRig as a backend for the mining that supports only CPU mining and one tha uses XMR-Stak that supports both CPU and GPU mining (AMD OpenCL and Nvidia CUDA). Since they use different miners there is slight difference in the supported coins between the two versions: TurtleCoin (TRTL) and Loki (LOKI) are supported only on the XMRig version and Conceal Network (CCX) only on the XMR-Stak one, so have that in mind when choosing. Of course it also depends if you need the CPU only or the CPU and GPU version of the GUI miner, though have in mind that apparently the CPU/GPU version does not support mining on both at the same time and you may need to manually switch between CPU and GPU (CPU mining by default). Do note that the XMRig version supports LOKI as it is the only miner with support for RandomX CPU mining and LOKI uses a variant of the RandomX algorithm (RandomXL). We are hoping to see more RandomX crypto coins getting supported in this easy to use GUI miner as they become available in time as it really makes mining on CPU easy for people new to mining especially with CPU mining getting popular again.

Monero (XMR) will be once more changing its PoW algorithm for mining in an effort to attract regular miners CPU/GPU miners and drive away FPGA/ASIC miners. Testing on the private RandomX testnet has concluded successfully and RandomX PoW mining will move to public testing on the XMR testnet later today. There is quite some time left before the fork happens though, it is scheduled for block 1978433 that should hit sometime on November 30th, so there is time for you to get familiar with the new RandomX algorithm by then. If you are interested in checking out the performance of your CPUs, then you might want to check the official RandomX Benchmark app (link for download below). There is also a not so optimized OpenCL miner available that works on both AMD and Nvidia GPUs available as well, though performance might be disappointing compared to that of higher-end CPUs at this point.
It is interesting to note that the RandomX algorithm apparently favors CPU mining due to its design even GPUs might not do so well initially with it, though we are probably going to see better optimized GPUs miners soon enough. All in all this might make CPU mining attractive to miners around the fork date, though there are other factors to take into account as well, so we will have to wait and see. AMD’s Ryzen CPUs are doing particularly good in the initial benchmarks of the RandomX algorithm as it is already being used by the new project Epic Cash (EPIC). You can see that the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X is doing particularly good in terms of performance with its big number of cores and low power consumption, though it is also an expensive and still hard to find product.
