DISH to Start Accepting Bitcoin Payments from Customers

The USA-based DISH Network has just announced that it will become the largest company to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment from customers starting the third quarter of the year. DISH has selected Coinbase as the payment processor for Bitcoin transactions with customers who choose to pay their bill online. The company will use Coinbase’s Instant Exchange feature to exchange Bitcoin payments to U.S. dollars at the moment of the transaction.

“We always want to deliver choice and convenience for our customers and that includes the method they use to pay their bills,” said Bernie Han, DISH executive vice president and chief operating officer. “Bitcoin is becoming a preferred way for some people to transact and we want to accommodate those individuals.”

The Bitcoin payment option will be available for DISH customers choosing to make one-time payments on mydish.com for pay-TV subscription service and of course customers will still have the option to make any payment online via credit card, debit card or bank account.

In fact it is relatively easy for businesses to start accepting Bitcoin payments the way DISH did with the help of a Bitcoin payment processor with the option to exchange the payment from Bitcoins to USD or other currency on the fly. This way the company getting the payment still gets paid the same amount of USD for its services, regardless of the current Bitcoin exchange rate. And the customer paying in Bitcoin will just have to pay a different amount of coins depending on the current exchange rate.

CEX.IO Has Added New Exchange Trading Pair – IXC/BTC

The cloud mining services CEX.IO has added a new trading pair in their exchange, so now you can sell your IXC for BTC directly without having to move them to another exchange. The iXcoin is merge mined with Bitcoin, so you actually get it as a bonus that adds something extra to your Bitcoin profit when mining BTC either with cloud hashrate that you have purchased or by mining at the Ghash.io mining pool with your own mining hardware. The exchange already had Namecoin (NMC) trading and so now the only thing left from the merge mined coins with Bitcoin that needs to be added is the DEVcoin trading. The service has already hinted us that they plan to add USD support to their exchange option that would also allow customers of the service to buy cloud mining hashrate with cash and not only with coins. And with more and more Scrypt ASIC miners starting to hit the market it might not be too long before they also start adding Litecoin cloud mining as an option along the already offered Bitcoin cloud mining option. There are still no dates announced when these features will be made available however.

The service offering users to sell their hashrate or rent mining rigs MiningRigRentals has added support for people willing to sell their hashrate in the form of Blake-256 and X13 as well as an option for people to rent minign rigs for mining crypto coins using these algorithms such as BlakeCoin or MaruCoin for example. Of course the service offers the quite popular at the moment X11 mining rigs as well as Scrypt, Scrypt-N and Sha-256, though these can also be found on other alternative services.
