ccminer-149-tpruvot

The ccMiner for Nvidia GPU mining for crypto coins is finally getting more like cgminer for AMD in terms of supported features thanks to developers like tpruvot. The more recent versions including the latest 1.4.9 of his ccMiner fork (source) have introduced features such as the ability to control the intensity of the GPU load, basic API functionality to get stats available to other software, support for JSON-based config file and now also nvapi/nvml support for GPU monitoring and possibly control. We have compiled a Windows binary from the latest source since there is still no official one released with the latest features and you can find a link to download it below. The binary is compiled with VS2013 and CUDA 6.5, however it includes support for Compute 3.0, Compute 3.5, Compute 5.0 and Compute 5.2 GPUs and not only for the new Maxwell-based cards. The latest version also does include some of the optimizations from SP’s ccMiner fork optimized for Maxwell, so you can expect to get similar performance on Maxwell cards such as GTX 750 Ti or GTX 970/980 with this release from tpruvot. The only thing that we still haven’t figured out is how to make GPU monitoring work as we are getting an error message saying that it i not available.

Update: There is now an official release of 1.4.9 available with some additional fixes and changes in the API, so you can download it directly from tpruvot’s Github repository, link below is updated to point to it.

sgminer-5-dev-new-neoscrypt-kernel

The newest development version of sgminer 5 (source) now includes an updated kernel for the Neoscrypt crypto algorithm by Wolf9466 that increases the hashrate significantly from the previous release. There is a catch however, the new kernel does not work anymore on Nvidia GPUs, you need to use the previus release for these. Also it seems that the latest kernel optimizations break support for the latest 14.9 AMD drivers, at least on Windows, so you need to use an older driver version (14.6 or 14.7 for example) to generate the kernel binary and then update again to the latest driver for the maximum performance (much like with the older cgminer 3.7.7 fork with Neoscrypt). The new OpenCL kernel is designed to be used with Worksize of 64 for optimum performance and with it you should be able to achieve hashrate of up to about 200-250 KHS or even more with Radeon R9 280X GPU or up to abut 250-300 KHS for Radeon R9 290/290X. We have compiled a windows binary that includes the latest optimized kernel that you can download and try from the link below, if you try it out feel free to share your results from using it.

ccminer-147-sp-maxwell-optimized

There is a new beta version of the ccMiner fork optimized especially for miners using Maxwell-based GPUs from Nvidia such as GTX 750, GTX 750 Ti, GTX 970 and GTX 980 supporting Compute 5.0 or 5.2 by SP. The new ccMiner release 1.4.7.SP (source) comes with some performance improvements for GTX 980 for the X11, X13, X15 algorithms as well as with multiple improvements for other algorithm supported and some increase in hashrate for GTX 750 Ti as well. The initial 1.4.7 release did have some issues with the X-based algorithms on GTX 750 however, so we’ve waited for these to be fixed and now it should work on GTX 750 Ti as well. We have a windows binary available from the latest source with all of the fixes and improvements available for download, it is compiled with VS2013 and the latest CUDA 6.5 version available in a single binary with support for both Compute 5.0 and Compute 5.2. Do note that older Nvidia video cards are not supported with this release, you should go for the latest tpruvot miner for older Nvidia-based GPUs. On a non-overclocked GeForce GTX 980 we are now getting up to about 7700 KHS for X11 as opposed to about 7550 KHS using the previous 1.4.6.SP beta miner that we have posted a windows binary of a few days ago, on GTX 750 Ti the improvements are not so notable.
