Bitmain’s upcoming Antminer KS3 ASIC miner for Kaspa (KAS) has been announced and it boasts some crazy specs for sure, especially compared to what is already available on the market. The hashrate of the KS3 ASIC miner is supposedly 8.3 TH/s with a 3188 Watts of power usage, meaning a 0.38 J/GHs power efficiency. As a comparison a single RTX 3070 GPU optimized does something like 600 MH/s at 90 Watts of power used, so a single KS3 ASIC miner is equal to around 14000 Nvidia RTX 3070 GPUs in terms of hashrate and is going to be way more power efficient. With the current total network hashrate of Kaspa (KAS) at around 1.16 PH/s at this very moment, doubling it with the Antminer KS3 ASIC miners would only take just like 140 devices and Bitmain should be producing way more than that for sure…

There is no official price announced yet and Bitmain is running a competition for users to guess the price, but you can expect it to be in the tens of thousands for sure. Bitmain plans to start shipping the KS3 miners in August, meaning that you can expect a huge spike in difficulty around that time as the new machines start going online. There will be a couple of reductions of the block reward of KAS by that time and with the massive spike in the hashrate the crazy high profitability of over $2500 USD per day at the moment for the KS3 should be much lower by the time you can actually get your hands on a miner. Bitmain of course wants to take your money now for the KS3.

So, FPGA mining and GPU mining for KAS will start to fade out with ASIC miners hitting the network as it will become unprofitable for sure, even with the price increasing it will still be unreasonable to think that you’d be able to compete with significantly faster and much more power efficient in terms of hashrate ASIC miners. You still have a little more time left to mine though, so do not be quick to switch to another coin just yet. Or use the opportunity to stack up on some KAS coins while the price is low.

After the recent update of both lolMiner and BzMiner that brought AMD GPU support for NEXA, there is a new update for both (jointly working on developing Nexapow) that bring fixes and additional performance and efficiency improvements. You can expect to see an improvement in the NEXA mining performance by 6-8% on all supported Nvidia and AMD GPUs (except on AMD Vega / VII) as well as improved power efficiency with the latest lolMiner 1.70 (nexapow algorithm improvements are the focus of this release). Using BzMiner v13.4.0 you should be able to get similar results in terms of improved performance and efficiency on your mining GPUs, though BzMiner also comes with a number of fixes regarding NEXA, ZIL, Radiant and Ergo fixes as well. Do note that the new NEXA implementation may require new overclocks for stability and performance, so old settings might need some adjusting for optimal results.

Do note that lately Windows releases are showing a bit late for lolMiner compared to the Linux versions, so check back a bit later if you do not yet see the Windows binary release of lolMiner 1.70 with improved NEXA performance and efficiency on GitHub yet. BzMiner has both versions for Windows and Linux up already for the new release, so Windows miners might give it a go while waiting for lolMiner’s Windows version to be uploaded.

While the latest updates of lolMiner and BzMiner are not the first to bring support for the Nexapow algorithm used by the NEXA project, they currently offer the fastest performance on AMD GPUs. Previously you could mine NEXA on AMD GPUs only using the WildRig Multi miner, now you can get significant performance boost with either the latest lolMiner 1.69 or BzMiner v13.3.0 (NEXA support is being jointly developed by both). Depending on your AMD GPU you could expect to get somewhere between about 12 and 20 percent performance boost compared to mining NEXA using the WildRig Multi miner, so if you were already mining NEXA on AMD GPUs you might want to upgrade your mining software now.

Meanwhile the NEXA project has also announced that it will be listed on the MEXC Global exchange at 14:00 on Mar 7 (UTC), bringing significant exposure to the crypto project to much wider market with MEXC being in the TOP 20 exchanges in terms of trading volume according to CoinMarketCap’s Exchange ranking data. So, you could expect that the interest, price and profitability of mining NEXA to also come up in the following days preceding the listing and after that as well. And that goes not only for AMD GPU miners, but also Nvidia GPU miners as well that had a heat start in being able to mine NEXA early on… it might still not be too late to join though.
