Christian Buchner, the author of the CudaMiner software for mining popular alternative crypto currencies on Nvidia-based GPUs has just released another software called CCminer that is intended to support CUDA GPU mining for Heavycoin (HVC) and Fuguecoin (FC). The GPU miner for Nvidia seems to be offering better performance than the recently released AMD GPU miner for HVC. We have compiled a x86/x64 windows binary from the source code with Compute 3.5 capability and with Visual Studio 2012 (if you are getting errors when running about missing Dll file you may need to download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012).

The performance we are getting on a GeForce GTX 750 Ti card with no overclock is about 4 MHS (4000 KHS) and on a GeForce GTX 780 Ti we get about 10.5 MHS (10500 KHS) with no overclock and raised power limiter to 106%. So if you have a few Nvidia-based GPUs you might want to try mining Heavycoin for a bit with them while the HVC exchange rate is still decent and with some AMD GPU miners getting away from HVC mining. In our experience the 64-bit version of the miner does give less shale shares (less booos) as compared to the x86 binary, though not much difference in performance in terms of hashrate between the two.

cudaminer-blakecoin-support

The latest beta version of cudaminer has support for the Blake-256 algorithm available, however there is still no official release available compiled for windows that has the new code with Blake algorithm support, so we have compiled it and provide it to you for download. So far the Blake-256 algorithm is only used by two crypto currencies – Blakecoin (BLC) and Photon (PHO), but the good news that if more come out you will be already ready to mine them with Nvidia GPUs as well. Note that the hashrate you will be getting mining Blake-256 crypto currencies will be in megahashes and not in the kilohashes range and that is pretty normal for this algorithm. Mining on AMD GPUs will still bring significantly higher performance than on Nvidia, but still you can mine on Nvidia as well.

cudaminer-2014-02-28-gpucoin

If you want to mine GPU Coin with Nvidia GPUs you will need to use the cudaminer software miner. GPUC uses Scrypt-Adaptive-Nfactor and not the standard Scrypt algorithm, so you need to run cudaminer with the –algo=scrypt:2048 parameter and not just with –algo=scrypt. Do have in mind that you should see about half of the typical Scrypt hashrate you get when you start mining for GPU Coin and that is absolutely normal due to the different algorithm being used.

We have tested mining for GPU Coin with a GeForce GTX 750 Ti video card running at stock frequencies and got about 134 KHS hashrate, after overclocking we’ve managed to get up to about 146 KHS. The kernel configuration that we found to work best was T10x24 on the GTX 750 Ti and this is the command line parameters we’ve used to launch the miner:

cudaminer.exe --algo=scrypt:2048 -o stratum+tcp://east1.us.stratum.dedicatedpool.com:3367 -u yourworker.1 -p password -i 0 -l T10x20 -C 1 -H 2

Below you can download the latest version of cudaminer 2014-02-28 for Windows with BAT files ready with the settings for mining GPU Coin, so you just need to configure them with your pool settings and start mining. Note that the default settings are the best for mining with GTX 750 Ti graphics cards, so you might need to change the kernel to another one based on your GPU or just remove the line setting up the kernel to use the autotune feature.
