While GPU mining still does work better on AMD-based graphics processors using OpenCL, the latest versions of the CUDAminer software intended for use on Nvidia-based graphics cards has gone through a good performance optimization and it makes mining with CUDA a good option if you have some spare and unused Nvidia GPUs. The fact tha there are still shortages of the Radeon R9 280X graphics cards on the market – the all-round best performer for Scrypt GPU mining makes the alternative to mine coins with Nvidia GPU a decent alternative. Of course the price/performance ratio of an Nvidia GPU versus and AMD GPU for mining is still in favor of AMD graphics. You can expect to get about 550-560 KH/s from a stock (non overclocked) Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics card, while the same performance is easily achievable with a much cheaper stock AMD Radeon R9 280X card. If you however have a watercooled 780 Ti and overclock it well, you might be able to reach hashrate close to about 900 kHash/s according to the author of the software. Regardless, if you already have a CUDA-capable graphics processor why not put it to some mining work to get some extra crypto coins, it also makes for a good option to try out new pools or alternative cryptos…

One of the best things about the CUDAminer software is that it automatically detects the best settings for your graphics card, so that after yo run it the software can squeeze out the maximum mining performance automatically for you. This takes the guesswork and a lot of time spent for testing different settings, though you can still do that if you wish to fine tune things. One of the still missing important features from this miner is the failover pool switching to backup pools in case of a problem with the current mining pool. CUDAminer already has support for scrypt mining with N=1024 (LiteCoin and many, many other scrypt clones like DOGE for example), scrypt-jane mining (Yacoin and several clones), scrypt mining with larger N (VertCoin) and the recently released MaxCoin mining (SHA-3 i.e. Keccak256). So you will be up to speed even with the latest alternative crypto currencies such as VertCoin and MaxCoin that have generated quite some buzz in the last few days. Below you can download the latest binary for windows of CudaMiner or you can compile it yourself from the (source).

Update: CudaMiner is now an old and non supported anymore miner for Nvidia GPUs, you should switch to the more recent and supported ccMiner instead in order to get better support, including for newer mining algorithms and coins, as well as faster hashrates for your Nvidia-based GPU mining rigs!

Another update from Doctor83 for his SRBMiner-Multi mining software to version 2.3.9, after the recent mandatory update 2.3.8 for Dynex miners a new bugfix release is available that fixes some issues with invalid shares that was present in the 2.3.8 update as well as brings performance improvement for some GPUs. Furthermore the new release also brings down the development fee to 2% for DNX mining and if you are dual-mining DNX with ZIL (Zilliqa has %0) you get some extra profit from that as well with no extra cast. There are apparently some other fixes and improvements, but the focus is mostly towards getting better Dynex mining experience and a bit of a performance boost, at least to some users…

A quick test of the new SRBMiner-Multi 2.3.9 release shows pretty good results, not only that the higher hashrate from the early 2.3.7 version is back on for Nvidia users (at least the 3000 series), but you get something a bit more as an extra than you should’ve gotten with the older release. The performance drop that came with 2.3.8 is now not available anymore, with Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 you should be back at the same level as with 2.3.7 in terms of hashrate or even a slightly higher. But miners with RTX 3080 and RTX 3080 would be happier as these GPUs do get an extra boost as well (3-5% average) and that one should be higher than on the 3070s, so they are quite a bit faster than with 2.3.7. And let us not forget about the 0.5% reduction in DNX mining dev fee, so definitely worth upgrading to the new release as soon as possible in order to take advantage of all of the improvements.

If you are mining Dynex (DNX) with the SRBMiner-MULTI v2.3.7 miner especially if dual mining DNX and ZIL you should upgrade to the just released version 2.3.8 as it implements important fixes regarding Dynex mining. It is a mandatory upgrade for Dynex miners as apparently the latest performance optimizations in version 2.3.7 have apparently resulted in returning some invalid pouw solutions and while the new version resolves the problem it also brings down the hashrate a bit as a result according to the miner’s developer. The update to SRBMiner-MULTI v2.3.8 is mandatory as older versions will stop working in a few days and you need to update if you want to continue to be able to mine DNX!

According to Doktor83, the developer of the mining software, NVIDIA GPU’s got the biggest hit in term of hashrate and mining performance should decrease on most of the supported GPU’s, except on AMD RDNA2 GPUs which supposedly got an increase in hashrate from the new code. Our own initial observations do show that for example RTX 3070 performance goes down by about 5%, but RTX 3080’s performance actually goes slightly up with about 2% and RTX 3090 goes down by about 1%. So, while it is mandatory to upgrade if you are using the miner to mine Dynex, depending on your GPU type you might get mixed results in terms of the change in hashrate after the upgrade.
