CoinKing, a New Multipool to Try Out

Today, checking out the PoolPicker multipool profitability monitoring service, that has received a complete makeover, we found out about a new interesting automatic profit based coin switching pool. It is called CoinKing and offers multipool capabilities for mining Scrypt, Scrypt-N, SHA256, X11 and X13 coins giving you a good chance to profit the most of your mining hardware, regardless if it is in the form of ASIC miners or GPUs. It caught our eye due to the fact that according to PoolPicker it is currently the most profitable multipool for Scrypt, X11 and SHA-256 coins and we have decided to check it out. Not that we are not happy from LTC Rabbit or ScryptGuild, however a multipool needs to constantly add new coins and have many profitable options available in order to maximize your profits as a miner…
The thing is that older pools do tend to keep for long coins that are no longer profitable to mine and do not add new profitable coins that often. That is why it is a good idea to be on the lookout for new services that might offer better profitability if you do not want to risk it mining new crypto coins that are currently launching. With so many new coins launched that turn out to be scams from developers that want to make some quick cash by pumping and dumping premined or IPOed coins it is no wonder that more people get back to multipools as a safer alternative for better profit than directly mining for a fixed coin. We’ll be doing a more detailed review of this multipool soon as we have just started testing and playing with it, but so far it looks very promising and profitable especially for owners of Scrypt or SHA256 ASIC miners.

The New bfgminer 4.0.0 is Now Officially Available

The software bfgminer 4.0.0 has been released and now the latest version does come with official support for Gridseed-based ASIC devices built-in, among a lot of other new features and improvements. The miner is intended for mining Scrypt and SHA-256 crypto currencies and the biggest advantage is the support for many ASIC miners, though most of these are still for Bitcoin mining and not for Scrypt. If used for Gridseed ASIC mining the advantage here is that you don’t need to replace the virtual USB to COM drivers with WinUSB or to send as parameters the COM ports for the ASIC devices to the miner – they will be autodetected. Below you can download the compiled windows binaries for the miner (32 and 64-bit) and be sure to check the example BAT files for running on Gridseed ASICs or just for Scrypt mining with a GPU. You can also compile bfgminer from source if you are using other operating system for example.

As a long time and happy users of the LTC Rabbit mining pool we are happy to see that they have added support for X11 mining. The idea behind X11 mining support is pretty much the same as the pool’s idea for Litecoin mining – you mine X11-based crypt currencies such as DarkCoin and they get automatically exchanged for LTC and you are being payed in Litecoins. So people with GPUs that are moving away from Scrypt mining could consider mining X11 and still get payed in LTC as Litecoin mining is slowly moving to the ASIC mining domain and will continue to do so in the next months making it not so profitable to mine with GPUs anymore.
You are able to mine X11 at the pool by using the sgminer for DarkCoin on AMD-based GPUs as well as by using ccminer with X11 support that wwas recently released for mining with Nvidia-based GPUs. Currently we are seeing similar performance mining on AMD and Nvidia graphics cards, however we are soon expecting to see an updated for ccminer that will bring significant improvement to the hashrate we are currently getting on Nvidia. The most notable advantage of mining X11 is that the GPUs should be cooler and use less energy as compared to mining Scrypt for example, or at least we are seeing that on AMD GPUs. So now you have another interesting alternative available to mine no Scrypt-based crypto and still get payed in Litecoins.
